Unplug Trailer when launching

I actually put them in not to prevent blown bulbs but to make the rear of the trailer more noticeable to idiots behind me. These things are twice as bright as a conventional tailight. The no-blown-light issue was just a perk.

electronic brakes? I was told by a fixit man "always unplug", I was told by sales man, "no problems, do it any way you want.".. I always unplug.

When I blew the one bulb, I replaced them both with LED's that I got on Ebay. If I remember right, Razz steered me to him. So if anyone wants an old light, I think I still have it laying around in the garage.

I went with LED because they seem to be brighter.

I don't unplug, and I launch in saltwater 99.9% of the time. I have a dorsey with the sealed standard bulbs, no problems with the buls, just corroding connectors every once in a while, it's expected though with saltwater.

I never have been able to unplug. I have had an Extreme trailer with surge brakes for 8 years. I do not remember needing to replace any blubs.

One cannot back up with surge brakes unless the harness is plugged in and the car is in reverse. The reverse signal disables the surge brakes when backing up. If anyone has ever tried the reverse lockout plug that comes with the trailer, they know it is basically near impossible to use.

Nowadays lights are sealed so well that is hard to burn them out. really no need to unplug them anymore...

Our 01 Tige came with an Extreme Trailer and the bulbs were in sealed housings. Never unplugged and only experienced 1 blown bulb because the sealed housing broke.
Our 05 came with an 06 Prestige trailer with LED's and have had no problems and do not unplug due to the reverse lead that needs power to back up. Prestige sure makes a great trailer.

I got an Extreme trailer also and tried to launch my boat with a friends truck and forgot my trailer plug. That trailer didnt move an inch when those disk brakes engaged. It only takes one time and you wont forget.

Found a guy on the ramp that let me borrow his,saved the day. Till I had to get the boat out....
