Ragboy I need a 17"-19" drop. I will re-measure in the daylight hours. I need the reciever a couple of inches off the ground to lower the windshield and tower as much as possible. I don't plan on towing with it just put in garage and get it out of garage.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know what I land up with. OBTW what are you towing with?

    Thanks

That would be great. PM me so we can exchange info and talk. I'll describe in detail why I need this.

Thanks. It does not need to look fancy it just needs to push and pull 5000# in and out of my garage. If you can PM me so we can set up a conversation that would be great.

        Thanks

Those are bigger than what I tow with. I use a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 4.7L when I need to move in tight spaces or a 2003 Expedition for with 5.4L for vacation long hauls with its dual air conditioning. It does well. Both are the prerequisite 4x4. I have towed the 23 foot MC a couple of times and had no problems. I just need some monster rock guards.

          I really appreciate the help.

          Thanks

            Tessa,

I'm confused why you need an 17" drop. What are you towing with? what size tire, etc.

Is this just so you can have the front lower or is your ride this high? Is the 17" what you need to make your rig ride level?

            Just wondering.

            Thanks.

              try that place.

I'll stop by other place on the way home.

This is the place in OKC

I just went out side again and remasured accounting for thr tongue height as well as the v shaped ground stop and all the other stuff that would cause me to keep the tongue in the air.It may be possible to do it in eleven inches. Since all the strrets here are not flat I am going to re-measure at work and post after that.

              Thanks Guys

Domsz - reading is fundamental, tessa's explained it at least 3 times...

Tessa, You could remove your sill plate as well to help. That should give you an extra 1 1/2". And if you really wanted an engineering project, replace the 2 x 12 headers across the front of the garage with a steel I beam. That would give you about 6" of extra room.

I did read it Timmy. typically on a stock truck you need a 2-4 in drop. With a 17-19 it means he is on a 12" lift. these are the questions I was asking. I couldn't imagine pulling a 6K boat and trailer on a 12" lift so just wondering how it was and all. Sorry I was not clear in asking the questions.

But it still doesn't make sense to me. Did he raise the trailer up 6 inches? is he pulling with a 44in tire? ideally you want your trailer to be level when towing, yet with a 17in drop unless your pulling on 44's your going to be dragging. My PSD is on 35's with a 9 inch drop and my trailer is perfectly level. and I still drag that darn hitch everywhere I go. It's only level now that I have installed air bags in my truck.

Does this make sense about why I'm asking?

I get the feeling that Tessa is attempting to get the bow lower than the stern. I'd assume that this is because it will allow the windshield and lowered tower into his garage. With a 17" drop, that is going to be just barely off the ground, I'd think. I'd assume he's planning on putting a regular receiver on the truck to tow with. The 20V is a fairly heavy boat, otherwise I'd recommend doing what we have done in the past. We used to push our 19' runabout into the garage by hand for this very reason. That being said, the double axle trailer woudl make that more difficult because they don't turn as easily as a single.

that's what I was assuming but just didn't know. I had to do that with my boat when I kept it in a friends garage, then I just said screw it and started renting storage, so much nicer.

Illiniboarder88 hit the nail on the head. I need to drop the nose as far as I can to get past the folded tower. The trailer company adjusted the coupler and a 17" drop absolutely will not work. Too many late nights and I misclculated. An 11inch drop bar should work. Worst case 13"

DOMSZ06 You were correct the math just did not add up and somewhere I goofed a measurement at 2:00 in the morning so you caught it and win the door prize. Thanks for challenging my numbers. I made a big screw up.

As to the suggestion of re-engineering the sill on my garage there is no way in the world that I would do it. All the costs for architecture drawings, load study, building permits, labor materials etc I would be better to find local storage for the summer and use an Amish barn for $100 dollars a slot for 8-9 months storage.

I don't think it will work. The wheek diameter looks like six + inches which may be too high to be able to get under and to keep the tongue low enough to do the job. I also have an asphalt drive at a fairly hefty angle to it. I have now looked at least 7 of them and have ruled them all out. Thanks

How are you planning on getting the tounge onto the hitch ball. My Trailer jack is at least 12 inches high when it is jacked to the lowest position?
                                Let it be!!!
