I think Tige takes a sniff now and then. Look at the RZ2. there are features on it that can be found in posts on here.

The Z1 was introduced to fit a niche that Tige was not in yet

Now, too much outside influence can be a bad thing..........Any one remember the Chevy citation???? this car was designed with direct input from GM's finest Techs at the time. and let me tell you, that was one of the biggest POS's there was.

Care to surf? Just switch the Aggressor system to surf mode. Push the weight to the port or starboard, and shape the massive swell with the patented TAPS system. The Tigé hull can do it all. One design, three systems working together.

        Are you in Marketing?

I am with you, this will not stop Tige for being the most versatile boat out there, it will put Tige further in the wakeboard and surfing Market while still supporting the ski market.

If they offer that, the whole NO BALLAST NEEDED campaign goes out the window. And all other companies will turn around and say "I told you so"

Agree, they would need to make a smart, subtle change of direction (not saying thier not going the right way now cause I believe they are and the #'s might show it) and not a complete about face.

We have seen that a lot on here. Example would be the 2006 Wake Design Board Racks and the modifications that they did for the 2008

p.s. I wonder where they got that idea from.

The name of the game is change, any business that change as fast as the market dictates wins. Tell of a big company that never changed?

Even MC, Malibu changed from a ski boat to wakeboard boats, which is what the customer wants.

I haven't heard of a new boat user that would say no to a ballast system.

Sorry, I am a little passionate about this topic. I was a little frustrated when I found out that my ConvexV hull did not deliver as big as wake as the ballast systems. Which my sales person told me when I was buying my first Tige boat, I still love everything about the boat. Needles to say I had to buy fat sack to compensate for the lack of ballast.

I use the fact that I'm fat to add a bit of ballast to the system. We don't do any surfing, although I want to try, and I'm the only one that really does much on the board, even though I still suck. So the TAPS has been about all I've needed. Plus mine is a 97 and I've got lots of upgrades to add before ballast comes into play.
                      Honey I'm home!

Well, only a boat with 2k in ballast will put out a wake that will compare to a boat with, lets say, 2k in ballast.

I may be reading your post wrong, but a boat with ballast will always have a bigger wake then the same boat with out ballast. But a Tige w/out ballast puts out a far better wake then other unweighted boats and in some cases, comparable to some boats with factory ballast, but will never compete with people that throw an extra 1k to 1.5k of ballast on top of factory and then bash another because thier wake is the biggest and best.

What I meant was that I was sold on the impression that the Tige without ballast would deliver the same wake of another boat with ballast. And it did not, I was a little deceived.

I agree, the "no Ballast" deal is all about the riders expectations and skill level, and way too many dealers missed the bus on this. They just blanket everyone as not needing ballast. Some people do fall into the "dont need Ballast" we did, until we got into surfing. Many people dont fall into that group and know what they want out of a boat and a good sales person should already know this before he starts his "speech"

Were you not able to demo the boat before signing?

And that's what created the bad reputation on other boat owners, they go out on a Tige without ballast and think, according to the tige salesman, that it should have the same wake as a boat with ballast.

Again, I love the ConvexV, and still wish all Tiges would come with ballast, the Tige reputation would be a lot better now.

I still think the Tige wake without ballast competes with most stock boats with ballast.

I mean to say that you take an X-star with 900 pounds of ballast and put it up against the RZ2 unweighted, then you have a very similar sized wake. Most serious riders put a lot more than 900 pounds in their X-stars, however and you need to put more in an RZ2 if you are serious as well.

I have watched and wakeboarded behind my 24V without ballast and the wake is great. Unweighted, it is as good as a stock weighted boat of another brand. Bigger is always better, so sometimes I weight it down good and the wake is killer.
                                Be excellent to one another.
