I don't know if I would bash him too bad about that comment. I am not a fan of negative salesmanship either, but he is just making a blanket dumb statement. I think the sarcasm didn't go over well in written format. If he said, 'look at MC's fiberglass layup, or Brand X engine is well known to have issues', then I would consider that a more direct attack and might have concerns about his strategies.

I am probably the worst Tige lover on this site and always bash Tige here. It is just in an effort to make things better. I figure it is kind of like family...my wife and I might speak negatively to our kids or each other at home, but we try to avoid it in public. You'll have some tigers by the tail if you hear someone else bash us. On a forum more open to other boat owners, like Wakeworld, I have nothing but praise for Tige.

    Tex,

Do you care to tell us what the final closing cost was for a loaded up Z1? I think that some of us are riled up that the Z1 is not going to break down to be the price point boat it was billed to be, once you put a few options on there. Can't you get a well loaded MC X2 for 55K?
    Be excellent to one another.

An X1, yes... and thats a proven wake MONSTER. However, I'm anxious to see what kind of swells we can generate with a Z1 with say... 2k of ballast?

One thing that I regret not having on my RZ2 is ballast. Do the MC all come with ballast? I think ballast should be a standard in all tige boats, I haven't heard of anyone that did not want ballast.

I think they do come std, but not sure. They all bash Tige for offering as an option so I guess every other tow boat has it std.

Did you buy yours off the showroom or did your dealer steer you away from it when ordering?

I think Tige needs to work with some of the dealer sales staff........too many out there telling people that they absolutely do not, never will, no how, need ballast. IMO, this is why Tige has had so much backlash about "not offering" ballast.

Well, it is a long story, but in summary out of the show room.

Last Year, Taylor's boat, the original Tige dealer decided to switch to Malibu. They had a few Tiges there that if they didn't sell they would have to send to the new Tige Dealer (Wasatch Marine). For that reason they sold it, "according to them", below dealer cost. I think it was a lie, but it was still 15k lower than the price I saw earlier on the same boat. Since it was the last boat I had to buy of the showroom. I love the boat, color, everything, except I wish it had the ballast system.

My last boat was a 2005 22V and it didn't have a ballast either, and I knew taht I wanted my next boat to have it, but I couldn't pass the deal.

The dealer we bought ours from (also no longer a Tige dealer) didn't order any inventory boats with ballast. The only one they had was an 05 that was used for a Tige photo shoot. They gave me the "dont need ballast" speech. It'd partly true for boarding (subject to skill level) but you cant surf with out it. So, here we are, installing ballast.

I like the Idea of having it as an option so Tige can fit more boaters and budgets even though I will have ballast in my next boat from the beginning.

the MasterCraft "X Series" all come with the KGB Ballast system. As I've suggested before, I think that Tigé needs to put together a real riders' package that consists of ballast, wetsounds in boat (with sub) tower, speedset, 340hp or 360hp, and custom graphics available only with the package. By packaging everything together, they could ensure more "buy in" so their average upgrade (over stock w/ no package) would be higher. However, since they could do this and slightly reduce the price of each individual upgrade (when only sold as a package), this would entice the customer to opt for the larger upgrade. Think of it like this: When you buy a car, do you piece together the options that you want from a base model or do you start with the appropriate package and add what you want?

                  Amen!

I think Tige need to get over the idea that the ConvexV can give the same wake as a 2K ballast. It does not!

Although it is a nice design and helps the wake, it does not give the same wake as a boat loaded with ballast. My first Tige they did give me the same speech that the ConvexV would work the same as a ballast system, The only reason why I bought my second without the ballast system is because the price. 15K discount can give me a lot of room to install my own ballast.

Some of the MC instrumentation are awesome as well, for me it is not worth to pay an extra 20K on a brand name, but they do have a few nice options. I am not defending MC, I think they are way over priced, but their boat are ready for a killer wake!

I think surfing has made a big impact on this issue, and because of surfing, tige should include ballast on all.

Tige will never get the credit it deserves without all boats perform the same way and provide a killer wake. When taking about MC you know they will have ballast and a great wake. People still think of Tige as a manufacture that does not embrace ballasts.

this is true, however another argument for including ballast is that it increases the resale value.

Dealers have had a greater impact on this then the fact that ballast is an option.

If they all came with ballast from the factory, all dealers would have are boats with killer wake.

                              just had a flash...
"Introducing the 2009 RZ2, with the all-new Aggressor Ballast System. Perfectly weighted to take advantage of Tigés unique Convex-V hull, this system provides killer swells for insane amounts of air.
Care to surf? Just switch the Aggressor system to surf mode. Push the weight to the port or starboard, and shape the massive swell with the patented TAPS system. The Tigé hull can do it all. One design, three systems working together.
                              Experience Tigé."

..of course this could work with any of the models, and not just the RZ2.
