    Fishing on the Tige

Do you guys allow fishing equipment on your Tige?

I use to have a 4 Winns and I used that 50% of the time for fishing, ever since I bought the Tige I never let any fishing equipment on the boat.

What is your take on it?

NEVER. Fish smell, hooks, shoes, worm crap. All nasty. I had a 4 winns before also, and I wouldn't fish from it either.

What I did is look around til I found a decent 2 man 14 ft fishing boat, 20hp, 2 fishing chairs and a electric trolling motor on bow, minn kota. I would take my 2 sons, it was great. I got that boat, for $950. It ran, worked just fine, and I could cut bait on the dash or seats without any worry.

That is what I would recommend. The only issue, is I have 6 kids, and they all want to go wherever dad goes, and how can I complain about that? So this year, I bought a pontoon boot, with 4 fishing chairs on each corner, and fish station on the rear, its bitchen for fishin. I bought mine new, but I have seen decent fishing pontoon boats on craiglist for about $6k.

I would seriously think about that before you pulling hooks out of your upholstery.

Just don't do it man, friends don't let friends, you know what I am saying? ;-)

My brother and I use to fish all the time and now that I got the Tige he is a little disapointed that we do not use it for fishing.

Besides I expend more time with my family now since wife and kids love being out on the Tige, and not so much on fishing trips. Not a lot of time left to go fishing anymore.

I have taken a rod a couple times just to throw out a line while we were just floating. I just landed the fish up on the platform or kept it in the water to keep the fish funk out of the boat. I usually keep the fishing to my flats boat though. It's amazing how many people think my wakeboard tower is some sort of special contraption for fishing though, it is a lot more than I would have ever imagined.

Are you afraid of hooks on your upholstery?

Not really, I just either keep the hook on the keeper down near the reel seat or I don't have anything tied on until I get out and then I cut it back off before I put the rod back down in the boat. A little puncture in the vinyl can be repaired quite easily if it did happen. I'm just careful about things and nothing has happened yet. I have vinyl seats on my fishing boat as well for comfort so it is pretty much the same risk I guess. I also have put the hook straight into the rod handle cork before which keeps the sharp point buried.

The wife and I do sometimes when it is just us. Usually in the Spring or Fall when the days are cool and we are out for just a cruise and drop anchor. Even then, we keep it to the swim platform for all the same reasons mentioned by others.

amen. Also, in Texas if you have a boat w/ 35hp or less, you can legally drive it inebriated. Just make sure it's camoflage, so you'll look good in your flourescent orange and camo lifejacket w/ matching cap.

I moved from Idaho, which was Mecca as far as fly fishing goes, and that was my passion. The problem with it was that it was an individual thing and hard to do as a family. Now that I have the Tige, I rarely fish. I also no longer live near Mecca.

I do not allow fish in my boat. I have taken a rod a few times, but am afraid of the the barbs in the upholstery, so I have never fished from the boat itself.
                        Be excellent to one another.

Depending on what I'm fishing for I pinch the barb down on most of my hooks. I guess if it did get lodged in the upholstery then it would be easy to back out with a very small pin hole left. I am a fly fisher too sometimes, but I've never tried that from the tige, I keep to the bow of my flats boat for that.

Fish from the shore or the canoe, not the ski boat.

Then again, it's your boat....do as you like. I like to pull tubes on my boat, you'd never guess the reaction on this board to that, so fish away my friend.
