I am new to this forum so please be nice. I purchased an RZ4 last year and am very happy with it. One item that has been a frustration is the "insulated cooler". Mine came uninsulated so I am trying to determine that best way to inslulate it myself. I like having cold drinks etc. and ice currently last a couple of hours. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I though they where insulated You are talking about the built in cooler right.
I bought some stuff yrs ago to insulate the motor box on my first I/O when I re-did the interior. It was foil-covered foam for noise and heat. I used some around the dash cooler of our next boat. Used 3M spray adhesive.
I still have some in the original box in the storage building I think. I will look for name and website. Could be too old for website, don't know if AL G had invented it yet.
I'll post later.

And just to add my go with the spray foam.Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein

I've got a 97 2200 and my ice lasts a couple hours while on the lake in the 110 degree Vegas weather. I plan to insulate mine with both the spray and sheet foam insulation. I just have to remove a few screws and pull the compartment up and flip it over. I hate spending a long day out at the lake only to find out that my "Diet Coke" has gotten slightly warm since all my ice has melted.Honey I'm home!

A quick thought on insulating with spray in foam. It is sticky and will glue what ever it touches together. To prevent this place plastic bags in where you want the foam and then fill the bags. The foam will still expand and fill all voids, but it you have to remove it you can with out ruining anything. My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.

Ahicken,
I hope to see you around here. Please come up and give me a pull when you get a chance. I'll be the tallest guy on the lake with the loudest stereo, red 2005 24V with the name Raisin' Cain painted on the back.
Where is the cooler on the RZ4? Isn't it one of the rear transom compartments?
Is your dealer in Vegas? I would be surprised if he did a half arse job of it...and if you call him on it, he would probably fix it in a heartbeat.
