      Well, I bought this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...192784178&rd=1

It does both 6 and 12 Volt batteries so it should work fine for the boat and motorcycle. We'll see if it blows up my Optimas, but I don't think so. The key with those seems to be to not charge them too fast, and to not overcharge them. I have no problem in my situation with waiting for the batteries to charge, and the charger will shut off once the batteries are full. The price seemed good, and the seller has a long track history of positive feedback, so I jumped on it.

BTW, I have the Pro Mariner Pro Sport 20, which does 2 batteries at 10 amps a piece. It works really well. I got mine at Boater's World.

The Xantrex worked great for us. We plugged it in each night and the batteries were charged the next morning. This charger has multiple settings for your type of battery, a temp setting, and a charge setting with multiple banks to charge. It also uses a 4 step charge rate to extend battery life. Sounds like I copied it out of the manual. Too much research I guess.

The Costco marine/RV batteries also worked great and this with a season that loggged 180 hours on the boat.
