The best I can give is kinda an apple to orange. I can only compare a friends 02 Wakesetter 23 to my 22Ve: unable to surf the Bu, and my unweighted wake is very close to size on his with ballast filled and wedge down. I know Malibu has made improvements to thier hull over the past few years, as has Tige, but it's the best I can give.

The most popular style pump is a livewell/aerator pump. These can be hooked directly to it's own thru-hull fitting (means putting holes in the bottom of your boat) or use a larger thru-hull fitting and connect all the pumps to a home-built PVC manifold being fed bu the thru-hull. This is no different then the factory ballast or raw water supply for the engine.

I've rode on a X10 with ballast and the wakeboard was about the same as my RZ2 without it, but when we slowed down to surf the X10 did have a little bigger wake. I imagine if I add the ballast system to my RZ2 the wake will be bigger than the X10. I am kicking myself for not buying one with a ballast system installed.

Although I heard that the 07 ballast switch was in a bad position where you bumped your knee all the time.

I dont regret not going with a boat with factory ballast cause I can now do what I want.

If we had ordered our boat, we would have gotten the factory ballast.

Don't get me wrong i love my RZ2, I just hate to use fat sacks that's why I started this thread to see options to put my own ballast system, which I might do next year. I am waiting to see some of the results from the guys here and if they are happy with their home made system.

When you say "I just hate to use fat sacks" what are you saying? You dont like having sacs taking up storage space, or dont like filling/draining by hand?

The advantage of factory ballast: 3 yr warranty, less loss of storage due to placement along transom (factory uses bow sac same as FlyHi integrated bow sac)

Dis: set weight amount, small amount of lost storage all the time.

Advantage of aftermarket: custom weight (sac size), placement of sacs, loss of storage only when filled, cost.

Dis: no warranty if self installed, or limited if installed by someone.

If you want to install the factory hard tank, I might know where to get a set cheap

CHP it is a Fly High fat sac. I was at the new dealer here in town yesterday when a new boat arrived. Guess what was up front for ballast. A Fly High Integrated Bow Sac. If I can come up with the money this year the Factory ballast is coming out and I am going to put in a fat sac systems that will give me some real weight.

Really, that's cool. I wonder if the are made to specs or not. The factory bow sac that CP3 got this fall from his Pimp My Tige was just a plain white U sac with male threads instead of female. It fit the bow much better then the Fly Hi.

I hate to have to fill and empty the sacks manually. If I could just flip a switch that would be the ideal. I would trade the lost of storage for more weight.

Forgot to add, we got our sacs in June, and it got old real quick having to fill/empty by hand. I've been planning mine since then

Don't forget to get yourselves some of these for the hose. They are great for positioning of the hose.

Too bad you guys are in California. I am not very handy to do it myself and it looks like you know what you are doing. I got a list of parts from chpthril but wouldn't know how they go together. Perhaps when you are done I could get some detail pictures.
