My thoughts are the 4th weekend would be bad. Besides the fact it's out for me and mine (30th anniversary trip), it's just a freakin' crazy weekend on the water period. We're usually at Shasta the entire fourth week and we always park the boats on the 4th itself just because it's fricken' amateur day! just my

I would have to agree, I understand what you are going for, but I think many of us already have our own traditions on the 4th. 1st, even lake Oroville is nuts on the 4th, but we love the great fireworks show on the water at the damn every year, we never miss it.

I agree with ragboy, and razzman. The 4th on the water is a accident waiting to happen. Folsom is a zoo on weekends anyway. The 4th on Folsom would be like going to Topak at Havasue . I would much rather make it a non holiday weekend. J.M. 2 C.

Well, here is my .... Read the above three postings and that is exactly what I would say.

Even though (there can be a huge disagreement with this rule) but from what I understand, Folsom is a non-drinking area. That includes the beaches and on the water. I know, not everyone drinks and we shouldn't be drinking and driving but over the 4th of July weekend, that lake is NUTS!!!!!!!!! Tooooooo crazy and any sponsors that tell you otherwise do not have any clue....

But once the boat is anchored for the day i do have a tendancy to indulge in a few rum and cokes!

You can drink on the water. There is no drinking 200 feet with in shore.

Although my plans are changing I have decided not to use Folsom Lake for the event. Not just cuz it is crazy but other reasons as far as the concert event is concerned. I have a few places this week I'm scoping out. I will keep everyone posted on the findings. I'm also planning the event sometime around the first weekend of June.

I don't remember the details, but a state ranger on oroville told me they cannot enforce "no drinking" on the water, but only close to or on shore. I don't know if thats only state run parks or not, or all the details.

The website for the Folsom says exactly what tigeblue says. However, the signs at the enterence of Folsom Lake say: http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/m...19/436333.html

Now, the guy who posted it was joking around and people were pointing out about drinking and boating but that is what the sign says at Folsom now.

There is a huge debate about what is legal and illigal in regards to alcohol in this area.

                      I don't get it......

So if you not driving you boat you can't drink, but if you out on the lake driving around you can drink????

This seams @$$ backwards to me.

The sign says that you are not allowed to drinking with the Folsom Lake area. Whether it be on the beach or in the boat.

My buddy justin is a ranger / lifeguard on Folsom lake. You are allowed to drink while on your boat. Just dont get drunk. I pointed out the same details about that sign while driving in. It is a$$ backwards if your ask me.

anyhow. Rollins lake you can drink at!

You can drink anywhere on any lake unless it's strictly under the parks or private jurisdiction as i know it. Off the lake your at the mercy of the parks dept, corp of engineers or consessionaire. But remember one thing, the same laws apply on a boat that apply in your car and the sheriffs are getting less and less tolerant.

I witnessed an incident last summer at New Hogan where a boatfull of people were partying in Acorn cove getting nuts and blasted anchored at the end of the cove. The sheriff was watching on the road above and about 15 minutes later the sheriffs boat pulled into the cove, ordered all on shore and confiscated the boat. Now i don't know all the particulars but i'll gaurentee alcohol had a major part in it.

Half of them falling off the boat going ashore could have played a part.
