You guys that get to ride all year long must have an opinion on what the best boards out there are. What makes of boards & binding are you guys using? Anything new out there that has caught your eye? Best value for the dollar right now?

I personally don't really care about the board... Any decent board will do the trick but for me it's all about the bindings... The more comfortable my feet are the more comfortable I am on the water which in turn gives me more confidence on the water... I find that I push myself a little more when I concentrate and I'm not thinking to myself "Man, my feet are hurting..."

I think there are a lot of good boards out there and everyone must decide on their own. I demoed a lot of boards before buying a CWB Absolute Platinum, my son has a Prodigy Platinum. We hate each others boards, but love our own. Every board has a slightly or significantly different feel. Find what you like and go with it. There is bound to be some brand loyalty, but whatever works for you. my I ride a CWB with Liquid Force Transit bindings. It works for me and is way above my skill. My attitude is "fake it till you make it".

I ride a hyperlite parks(awesome board) with LF bindings,my wife rides a cwb and both my kids ride hyperlite-voyager and vargas.Everyone has a different setup so make sure you are comfortable with your board

I'm in the market for a new board too, but dont have time to make the 1.5 hr round trip back and forth to the board shop to pick up demos.

It would be great to have a "sticky" thread that was a tutorial, in layman's terms, about how to choose a board and all the things associated with board designs.

CWB hinge technology is the BOMB!!!!!!!! By far the most comfortable binding that I have worn and when my friend wear my bindings, they are commenting on the comfort. I have the 07 Factions but I have heard that this years lineup from CWB is even better.

I bought a 135 CWB Sol with the Seven bindings (hinge). Seems like an ok board, the bindings are very easy in/out and comfortable, but I am brand new to the sport, it was $199, so I bought it. But now as I start to add tricks I am getting curious about one board vs. another... Someone told me that "the board doesn't matter, it's all the rider..." I have no idea if that is true or not.

I only got to ride my Hyperlite Imperial once after I got it. It seemed solid, but we'll see. It was sent as a warranty replacement for my Parks 143. LOVED my Parks board. That being said, it would not be for everyone. I bought it because I was riding on relatively small wakes. On a huge wake, it was probably more board than I needed, but it was still a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it started falling apart, and they don't make those anymore. For bindings, I have a pair of Hyperlite Parks bindings. They are hands down the most comfortable I've ridden. I had never bought cheap bindings, but I finally broke down and bought top of the line ones this year. I'll never go back. The strain on my legs is so much less. I think some of the boards are less hard on your body as well. Some cores do a better job of absorbing the impact better than others do. When I sent in my Parks board I was forced back to my old Liquid Force that was my first board. I think I bought that board in 00. I was amazed at how much more abuse my legs took. Almost every landing sent jarring vibrations through my legs, and I was always sore a day after riding. The way I see it, I hope to be doing this for a very long time, so I'm willing to spend a little more to avoid putting more wear on my body than is necessary. That's just my $.02 worth.

Wakeworld.com has an area where people can review boards and bindings. I used that when I bought my stuff and for the most part what was said in the reviews seemed to hold true.

I generally buy the best stuff I can afford. You normally get what you pay for. I smashed my right ankle between an MX bike and the ground smashing it into hundreds of little peices--bindings for me are important since even walking makes my ankle scream in pain. That being said, I can ride for a while in my LF Sphynx bindings where cheap ones had me hitting the bench in no time. Buy the best you can afford, you won't be sorry.

We have a couple boards we realy like. Our LF Substance 138 with CWB hinge bindings is a great board and my favorate as far as carving, tracking and pop goes. Unfortunatly the landings are vary hard to the point I don't jump on it any more. The Substance is the only board my 14 year old rides these days.
The second board I like is an O'Brien Valhalla 143 with LF Transits. It rides about 80-90% as good as the Substance but the landing, even out in the flats, are vary soft and easy on the knees. I suspect that there is a better board out there for me, I just have not found yet.
From intermediate on up boards make a big difference. Try to find one that fits with you style and feels good.
