Originally posted by Domsz06 View Postsparky, I don't get espn, fox or any sports tv channel, so my opinions on UH are from watching them play and what I have read in the papers.
There schedule is the 174th weakest schedule, so therefore I don't believe in them what so ever. Sure you can go undefeated and not play anyone. and No I don't think they are good. After watching them play I think that baylor would give them a good run for their money.
People do not want to travel that far to Hawaii, and as far as other teams wanting to play or not play them I have not heard, but that's no surprise about TX, Brown is weak.
Your right, Boise state did beat OU last year, and I'm not knocking that. The issues is this. When you play tough teams every weekend, there are going to be upsets, you get hurt, your players are beat up. UH doesn't play anyone, and their schedule stinks. They got a BCS game, and yeah they probably deserved that. Do they deserve the Title game, no way no how.
And if OSU played UH UH would get shut down. there defense would not know what hit them. They to me look a lot like KU. They play good, and have good players, but if they were to play a fast paced Defense, or have their defense play a fast paced offense they would get throttled.
SC won't play them because Pete C. Knows his team is weak this year, and he doesn't want to hurt his reputation. Colt's high octane offense? well of course you can have a high octane offense when you don't play anyone.
My question to you is this. Have you ever sat and watch the big ten, big 12 or any other schools besides the WAC? or are your opinions formulated from watching fox or espn? I can say this, that now that I have lived in two different areas that we are trained by the tv to be biased towards are area of living. While in OK all they did was bash SC, while here all they do is bash OK. Both teams are good, both conf are good, but who had more teams in the top 10 this year? IT sure wasn't the WAC with their 1 team in there, nor was it the big 10, ACC, Pac 10, SEC or Big east!!
OK stepping off my soap box, and going home, or back to work. Oh and by the way, 8 of the big 12 teams got a bowl, that's the most allowed, as well as the maximum 2 spots allowed in the BCS were big 12, when there should have been 3. We can argue this all day long, but basically we need a play off!!!
Where do you get 174th SOS. The latest data has Hawaii at 118 SOS, while that sounds bad number 1 OSU has a 44 SOS, Kansas is a 74, and USC is a 75 SOS. Lets be real here, while I concede that Hawaii has had the easiest schedule of any top 20 team what do you want them to do?
1 Ohio State SOS 44
2 LSU SOS 25
3 Virginia Tech SOS 5
4 Oklahoma SOS 37
5 Georgia SOS 21
6 Hawaii SOS 118
7 Missouri SOS 4
8 Kansas SOS 74
9 Southern California SOS 75
10 West Virginia SOS 43
11 Florida SOS 8
12 Arizona State SOS 56
13 Illinois SOS 10
14 Boston College SOS 14
15 Brigham Young SOS 56
Dom I do watch more than the WAC, I have made it very clear that I'm a rabid Oregon State fan and grew up in Wisconsin and went to college in Michigan so I do follow the Big 10. I watch Hawaii games because when I lived there I followed the team (only venue around if you know what I mean) How you watch Hawaii games without ESPN (2) is beyond me, I have to stay up real late to catch a game on ESPN 2. I will admit though that I do not watch Big 12 or SEC games, even when they are on National TV.
Anyway, interesting debate, while we disagree on whether they should have at least a shot at a title game (playoffs anyone). I agree that under the current system they should not be playing for a title. I would of been real jaded though if they had not gotten a BCS game. Now I only hope Hawaii proves me right, cause this is the WAC's chance to show up.
Back to work

The SOS is interesting and it does look like the teams padded their schedule, however, they still played harder games and lost one, it happens. If the top 25 all played a 118 schedule there would be 25 undefeated teams (ok, not really since they do play each other, but there would be a lot)
I catch the games at bars when I'm working as well as drinking. I spend my sat at a bar and just watch football. NO sound so the commentators don't jade me one way or the other.
I do know your a die hard beavers fan, and that's great. Just like I'm a die hard sooner fan. I support them in the thick and the thin, the good and the bad.
the reason I still dont agree that they should play in the title game is just because of how weak they have played. I hope that your right and they represent for the WAC, because if that's the case and they smoke georgia I'll for sure admit that they were good. I just don't see it happening because of what I have seen. In my eyes they look a lot like KU, great team, great offense, great defense, but then they play someone that has great fast defense and strike offense and they look like a dear in headlights. I called the KU MU game from a mile away, my uncle (Die hard KU fan) hated me for it, but I knew it would happen. Now next year it's another story, KU will be good, and UH should be too. And IF UH wins, they will get there chance to be even better next year because people will play them and if they can stomp them too, then they will get respect!
It's like I was saying ealier, you don't watch big 12 games so you probably don't see it, but based on all the different locations they sell up that area and sell down the other. This is why I go to the bars and watch it noise free, I can draw my own opinion of the team and their players.
I'm stepping off my soap box here and dropping this subject because we can argue it all day long. I agree, the BCS sucks, we need to go to playoffs.
My prediction of the 5 bowls are
ILL
LSU
Georgia
Va. tech
OU
those are my predictions on the winners of the big games.
We shall see how it goes.Last edited by Domsz06; 12-06-2007, 09:24 PM.Originally posted by G-MONEYIt hurts me to say it but go OU but only for this weekend!!!!

Not sure I agree with that....
71 Wisconsin 5.87515
72 Louisiana Tech 5.90719
73 Virginia 5.90817
74 Arizona State 5.90999
90 Iowa 6.21171
91 Kansas 6.23813
93 USC 6.25464
109 Boise State 6.52126
118 Hawaii 7.12146
58 Oklahoma 5.71287 (for Dom)
These strength of schedule grades are hard to go by. It does not factor weather, injury, rivalry, and most important when a team schedules it has NO IDEA WHO IS GOING TO BE GOOD!!! I mean what if next year everyone Ohio State plays sucks ***, should Ohio State be penalized for that?
And what do these point totals mean? Because the hardest SOS is Mississippi 4.92007 and the easiest is Memphis 7.28799. What the F does that mean, I want to see some real numbers like Mississippi at 2.009 SOS and Memphis at 85.2116. Cause the difference between 4.9 and 7.2 isn't that much folks. Lets use some more shocking numbers........good grief
