    Dom,

How many BCS teams were supposed to play Hawaii this year and backed out?

    Michigan, Michigan State and Texas.

Hawaii coach June Jones wanted his football team to open the season at Michigan. The Wolverines wouldn’t play the Warriors and instead hosted Division I-AA Appalachian State, which beat Michigan 34-32 in one of the biggest upsets in college football history.

Hawaii was scheduled to play Michigan State this season, but the Spartans paid $250,000 to cancel the game. Jones tried to replace the Spartans with Southern California, but even the Trojans wanted no part of quarterback Colt Brennan and the Warriors’ high-octane offense.

Still, at the root of the problem is the BCS system itself. Realistically you're going to see more and more teams schedule soft intentionally (ala Kansas). This will still happen until the system gets revised.

Is Hawaii the best team in the NCAA. Probably not, but they beat every team they have played and #19 Boise State was no push-over and who knew that Washington was going to be this bad this year. Beat who you play, and do you really think that Ohio State is head and shoulders better than UH? Have you seen UH play this year? Or do you form your opinions from ESPN and FOX Sports. Come on DOM give the WAC some credit, I mean they did beat your beloved Sooners last year.

To end my rant I will say that Hawaii is the ONLY undefeated team left. They did play some good teams, and many good teams did not want to interupt their precious schedules with a potential loss to a WAC team. The Warriors deserve a chance, and they will never get the chance until a playoff system is in place. UH is good and I'd f*c*ing love to watch the Warriors kick Ohio States a$$.

    GO BEAVERS!!!!

        GO BEAVERS!!!!

sparky, I don't get espn, fox or any sports tv channel, so my opinions on UH are from watching them play and what I have read in the papers.

There schedule is the 174th weakest schedule, so therefore I don't believe in them what so ever. Sure you can go undefeated and not play anyone. and No I don't think they are good. After watching them play I think that baylor would give them a good run for their money.

People do not want to travel that far to Hawaii, and as far as other teams wanting to play or not play them I have not heard, but that's no surprise about TX, Brown is weak.

Your right, Boise state did beat OU last year, and I'm not knocking that. The issues is this. When you play tough teams every weekend, there are going to be upsets, you get hurt, your players are beat up. UH doesn't play anyone, and their schedule stinks. They got a BCS game, and yeah they probably deserved that. Do they deserve the Title game, no way no how.

And if OSU played UH UH would get shut down. there defense would not know what hit them. They to me look a lot like KU. They play good, and have good players, but if they were to play a fast paced Defense, or have their defense play a fast paced offense they would get throttled.

SC won't play them because Pete C. Knows his team is weak this year, and he doesn't want to hurt his reputation. Colt's high octane offense? well of course you can have a high octane offense when you don't play anyone.

My question to you is this. Have you ever sat and watch the big ten, big 12 or any other schools besides the WAC? or are your opinions formulated from watching fox or espn? I can say this, that now that I have lived in two different areas that we are trained by the tv to be biased towards are area of living. While in OK all they did was bash SC, while here all they do is bash OK. Both teams are good, both conf are good, but who had more teams in the top 10 this year? IT sure wasn't the WAC with their 1 team in there, nor was it the big 10, ACC, Pac 10, SEC or Big east!!

OK stepping off my soap box, and going home, or back to work. Oh and by the way, 8 of the big 12 teams got a bowl, that's the most allowed, as well as the maximum 2 spots allowed in the BCS were big 12, when there should have been 3. We can argue this all day long, but basically we need a play off!!!

I think the funnest thing about the system is that 8 of the big 12 went to a BCS game. I just look at that and go WOW, come in 8th place an make it to a BCS game ....

Sorry have to correct you on this one. Only two got to BCS games, the other six would be going to the other (Non BCS) bowls. There are only five BCS Bowls. Basically the only real significance of being in a BCS bowl (other than the National Championship) is money, and that is the one and only thing keeping a playoff from becoming a reality.

                    Unique Problem

Here is a unique problem that the BCS (especially the Sugar Bowl) probably didn't figure on when the teams were selected. I've been listening to a Hawaii radio station and it appears that they going to be having a hard time getting all of their fans to the game. The problem, they say, is that all of the airlines are already booked and that there aren't any other flights off of the islands. They are trying to get the airlines to send some planes over but they are obviously hestitant to spend all of that time and money.

A unique problem that you only get when Hawaii gets invited to a BCS bowl. Usually they stay at home in the Hawaii bowl, or whatever they decide to call it that year.

ha ha ha, so that means that they will just have to sell the tickets to the other fans. I bet regardless the game still sells out. What do you say?

Why doesn't UH just use the jet they charter for the football team and fly it back and forth for the fans? I mean the teams get to the bowl games up to 2 weeks before. They don't do anything with the plane then.... Just an idea someone should present

My idea is to load them all up in cargo crates and ship them on over on a container ship. Sure they would have to leave this week, but at least they could get to the mainland.

While they're on the ship, maybe they could break out some boards and ropes and get a pull behind the ship. They better not fall though or they would be left behind cause I don't think those things can turn like Tige's can.
