Install a flush pro

I would like to install a flush pro with an external fitting on the transom for ease. Has anyone done this? I am not sure what kind of fitting to put through the transom. I know malibu offers this but have not seen the fitting.

A flush pro is installed in the raw water hose to make it easier to operate the engine out ofthe water.

I was going to look into placing a brass ball valve and a hose port into my intake line this spring. Seems like it would be better than the "Fake-A-Lake" I used this fall.

Hey Rushin. I've got the in-line flush system installed, and your idea of an external fitting got me thinking what a cool idea, but wanted to let you know to think about something else as well: to flush with the hose (the way mine is set up, anyway), you also have to have a shutoff valve to keep the water from just running out the through-hull in the bottom of the boat. If you have to go into the engine compartment anyway to move the valve, might as well just connect your flush hose there too. Just my .02!

You can see the install instructions at the perko web site. They also make the fittings or a kit to install through the hull like you want. I was looking into the same over the summer, but did not get around to it. On my 22i the raw water intake is right in the middle of the trailer bunk, so no fake-a-lake.

I can't find the posts on here but I remember reading a thread and those flush pros are prone to breaking. Apparently the plastic is not strong enough in some part so it fails. I can't recall the exact spot where they said it breaks, but it was a couple people saying the same thing about them....that's the logic behind my choice to make my own from brass fittings.

Personally, I've never used one so I have nothing else to go on except what was said on the chat boards.

The flush pro has a built-in check valve to prevent this.

I have had the factory installed flush kit on both my tiges. No valve to prevent water running out inlet just turn house on fast enough. They both just had a brass screw on cap that you unscrewed and screwed on the tap fitting to recieve the house takes a few seconds and you are away. The 20I was through the hull under the platform and the 22ve has the fitting at the front top of the engine bay

WARNING!! do not buy & instal perco flush pro! this thing is a piece of plastic crap! plastic cracked & broke, spring valve stuck, alarm goes off, limp back to boat launch, burn up impeller. this thing was less than a year old!

I replace with a brass set up from "marine technologies broup". this thing has ball valves you manually open to flush (dont forget to close when done) This is nice quality stuff.
It also works as emergency bilge pump if needed!... nice piece.

I know mntsmith has a Perko on his boat that dealer installed when new. I think he might have posted pics/details somewhere of how it was mounted. I have I/O and Volvo Penta uses a simple "t" in the raw water side angled with the flow that I use to flush when boat is in the water. Only downside of that is you must remember to replace the cap when not in use. (Perko has spring loaded check valves). Pros and cons to both I guess.
Pros: no spring loaded check valve to fail/stick.
Cons: must not forget to install cap or impeller is toast.

I have a flush adapter or fake a lake plumbed in under the hood by the trans. Not sure I want to blow another hole in the boat just to save to save 30 seconds.
