    David,
I was just at PK for a week a couple of weeks ago. I was teaching motorboating and waterskiing merit badges for our troop at the Boy Scout camp just across from Hells Gate. One of my boys ran over some rocks just offshore and screwed up my brand new Acme prop. What part of the lake did you find the trees at?

I was at PK in 1998 for the same reason but in my old I/O. Had to take it to a shop during the week for engine repairs and I went to J&J prop shop in Graford and hanging on the lift was a green/white 97 or 98 Tige that had done the same thing you did. It too was a sad deal.

I'm curious as I almost bought a map while there. What map do you use and are the trees marked on it?

I'm not sure where we were in terms of names but I do know it was at the end of the boatable part of the water and just before it turned into a narrow, shallow river. We didn't have a map on the boat and we were just cruising not knowing where we were going. When we got back (We stayed at The Cliffs Resort) they gave up one of their maps that did mark trees and we saw right where we hit and it was an underwater line of huge trees.

        David,
Let me ask you a question about The Cliffs. We cruised over there one day but didn't get a chance to look around much. Nice marina however. My question is about the "No Wake" markers there. It appeared to me that the whole width of the lake there is marked as a no wake zone. Was that your impression? It would surprise me the BRA would allow the entire lake in that area to be marked. I know it is not very wide there but really, the whole channel?

PS. So did you like the place. How much was it per night? I saw some 2 story condos or apartment looking units there. Is that where you stayed?

I really didn't notice the No Wake signs that took up the whole channel but I don't think its a big deal considering the lake is so big and there are so many places to go. I'm not sure how much it was per night and no we didn't stay in the 2 story condos. I liked out room it was nice. Just 2 queen beds and a bathroom. Something small for two nights. Overall I liked the place but I wasn't there enough to really judge it. We were on the lake the whole day and only came in during the night.

It wouldn't be a big deal unless you were trying to keep going past the place, then having to idle by their place seems a little unfair, but I couldn't really tell for sure. We were actually trying to reach the dam when we came to the Cliffs. Obviously, there was a lot of the place we didn't see.

              I feel your pain

I did a similiar thing a couple years back with my Ski Centurion (now I have a 2004 20V can't be happier), hit a submerged log (never saw it, even after the hit) luckily I was at idling speed. It ended up bending the driveshaft, bent prop, bent rudder.. insurance ended up covering the whole thing(about a $1000).
On a newer incident, I was out on a wakeboard clinic (Liquid Force) with Shane Bonifay in the boat, and we went into a "bad area".. long story short, we hit an underwater rock ledge, totally ripped the rudder off, none of the blades were left on the prop, and bent the driveshaft.

What did the repairs end up costing and how long was the boat out of commission?
