Your 2002 22i also had spray pockets, with no convex-v hull. Also, starting in '04 TAPS 2 allowed for faster movement, and more adjustment angle. Glad you're enjoying your new baby!

Some lakes have started banning ballast and mechanical devices designed to increase the size of the wake. The wedge comes to mind when I think mechanical devices designed to increase the size of the wake. Where would wakeplates fit? What are the odds that these places would accept the argument that it's simply a shaping device? I think we're going to see more of these rules given that wakeboarding gets a bad rap. Tige's taps system could be a huge marketing plus for them in the future.

I hate these rules because we all know morons cruising around not on plane throw up much more wake, but let's be honest, you end up with a lot of old people with fishing boats and pontoons on the boards.
As for as wakeboats being banned, its not just becuase of the large wake. I mean a 40' cruiser could go by and create a massive wake and who would complain? Big boat= big wake.... I guess that logic to fisherman and recreational boaters is that we are using devices to make our boat have a larger wake then it should, whereas, a 40 footer cant help it, its going to make a big wake. Also wakeboarders bring loud music, teenagers, and carelessness. How many people on fishing boats do you see cruising around with their cassette players blasting "obscene music"? Most people probably think of wakeboarding as a "disturbance" Kind of the way we think of tubers....

Probably also has some to do with mussel control. Those things hide out in ballasts.

well, the lake I am referring to has a size limit on boats. Part of the rationale for the rule was that because of ballast, peoples' riprap was getting moved. Nothing very big is allowed out there, so I think the ballast issue out there is 100% wake size related. I agree on the loud music and general disturbance; unfortunately wakeboarding has some image problems.

Thats what i was thinking.... If its a size restricted lake whats the needs to spend thousands on rip rap if there are no big boats..

I started out with a 1995 Chris craft concept 19 which was 19.11 feet long 8.6 wide , I added a tower and ski pole , I ran the boat 1300hrs without a problem. As my sons grew older and more competitive we bought a brand new 2001 pro air nautique , I was very dissapointed with the overall boat from the start (1) ballast woudnt fill unless under way and turning slightly to the left , I called the factory and they said thats the way they worked , so I modified it and corrected that problem , (2) with 25hrs the speedo and tach failed , installed new gauges under warrantee (3) at 80hrs the same to gauges failed again , replaced under warrantee but this time they were a different color then the originals called the factory they said those were no longer available , (4) at 140 hrs you guessed they failed again , new set so I called the factory and asked what will happen when I am out of warrantee whats the cost of these guages , 200.00 each , so I put it on the market and bought a tige , the differance was incredable handling , wake ajustabilty , butmost of all the gas milage was way different I would go through 30 gals in 5hrs , with the tige a bigger boat I go through 30 gals in 9hrs . The other most disturbing thing was the interior in my Chris Craft was still good when I sold it , the nautique was showing wear and loose seams in less time , my current tige is 4 years old and looks perfect. So thats my 2cents worth.
