RZ2 vs 24ve

I had the chance to test drive a 07 24ve a few times this summer. I liked the way the boat handled the chop which is important to me. It had good pick up and was a comfortable ride. Can someone tell me how the 07 RZ2 compares to this boat it terms of ride quality? I test drove a X-Star and it took on a lot of water up front in semi choppy water. The dealer told me it was the pickle fork front design, is that the same with the Tige? Also what are some of the draw backs to Tige's or what would you like to see different? Any know problems that these boats may have? Thanks.

I test drove the X Star last year and hated it. It is designed in my opinion just for wakeboarding. I would go and test a RZ2, but remember it is only 22 feet compaired to the 24Ve which is 24 feet. Tige now has the RZ4 which is 24 feet and I would test that one as well if your dealer has one in stock. You WILL have a lot more versatility with Tige' than the MC X star IMHO

The RZ2 kicks a$$ over the X-Star. As bowdoc says, the RZ4 is probably a better comparison to the 24Ve.

if its a tige dealer they will be more than happy to give you a test drive, as they say, you have to see ti to believe it. we have a 2007 20i and we couldnt believe how well it handled the rough for a ski boat!!

It's awesome! We were originally looking at a 24 Ve for the same reason, to handle the chop and then we drove the RZ2 and it rides through the chop pretty much the same. The 24Ve is a tiny bit better but I think you'll be happy with the RZ2.

My wife was to the point where she no longer wanted to go out on our old boat because of the chop in the afternoon, she would literally wear a life jacket because that's how afraid she was that something was going to happen. With the RZ2 she just sits back and relaxes. It rides even better when you fill up some ballast (I'm sure all boats are that way though).

I have a RZ2 and love it. I also had a 22VE and loved that as well. I have never driven the 24VE but I did recently try out the RZ4.

To be honest, I thought the RZ4 was just a tad more stable then the RZ2 but the wake was not as good. ( both had factory ballast) I think the larger boat would be better for super rough water or if you have a large family. but if you want to board and surf, you will need to have more ballast on board with the 24VE compared to what you would need with the RZ2.

Compared to other boats, I don't think you will find anything better then a RZ2 when it comes to handling chop on a rough day.

Tige dealers are great with test drives, get out and try both and then go from there with what is best for you..

I have a 24Ve, and I have heard people compare wakes, I love the wake on mine. I think part of the reason is that I always have at least 8 people on board, so I think a RZ2 with 4 people is going to have a better wake than a 24Ve or RZ4 with 4 people.

Also, I was very surprised that the towboat at the tige pro am was the 24Ve and not the RZ2 or the RZ4. As a 24Ve owner, that makes me proud. I wish I knew the reason, however, I would assume that Tige would use the boat that makes the best wake at the pro am, don't you think? And I don't think all things were equal. I would guess they would want to showcase the new line of Z boats, so I am speculating that something about the 24Ve made them use it instead.

Of course, I am just speculating, but it makes sense to me that a boat company would want to put out the best wake possible at such a big event.

I cought the Tige Pro-Am on Fuel channel this weekend. Those cats are SICK!!! It was a really sharp looking boat they were using to pull.

I have an RZ 4 and the ride is exceptional in all types of seas. You will have a little problem with water coming over the bow picking up skiers when turning through your own wake at slow speeds. After you drive it a while you get used to it and give it a little throttle to raise the bow and this stops the issue all together.

As far as taking water over the bow in rough seas, this absolutely does not happen as the boat has a little bit of a bow up attitude at cruise speeds. You can get a good look at what I'm talking about in the videos on the Tige website.

The biggest reason we like the 4 over the 2 is room and storage. We always have 8 t0 12 people in the boat and in the 4 you don't even notice this. Sorry for the long post, hope it was a little help.

As far as taking water over the bow in rough seas, this absolutely does not happen as the boat has a little bit of a bow up attitude at cruise speeds. You can get a good look at what I'm talking about in the videos on the Tige website.

Just depends on how rough the seas are... I got caught in a bad storm and filled the boat up to the cushions with water because the waves just kept pouring over the bow of my RZ2 and that was with taps all the way up to get the nose as high as possible.

I stand corrected I wasn't thinking about the difference in length. I guess the RZ2 could be a little more secceptable to this than the RZ4, but so far this has not been a problem and we have been through some pretty rough weather on lake Amistad in Texas.

Wow, that's bad. It's also one of the reasons I have a tonneau cover. We've been out on our lake and I've had waves breaking over the bow. It kept my bow pretty much dry even though we got soaked. It wasn't a fun ride, but we got home safely and with surprisingly little water in the boat.

The waves were big enough that it wouldn't have mattered if it was a 22', 24' or 28' boat, they were going to come over! It was a bad storm, none like I've ever experienced. We will be getting a tonneau for the nose for next season just to be on the safe side.
