I would agree. I have a 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 with a 5.3L, and it is underpowered and underbraked for my 24Ve. I think it would have been fine with the 6.0L and bigger brakes. Its stable, and I have used it to take the boat to the shop and minor stuff, but def is underpowered for that monster.

Back on topic: I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi. It is rated to tow 6500#'s (more than my brother in laws new Tahoe @ 6200#), but I am nervous about pulling the new 24" Ve with it. Anyone have experience with this combo?? Thoughts???

Didn't know you could find all that info about a JEEP on chevy.com

I was referring to the bigger/heavier Tahoe

Sup man, I see you post over at DCWAKE.COM (Tige haters galore over there, haha). Yeah. I pretty much leave my boat at Lake Anna anyway. Only reason I am worried is because I may drag it to 1000 Islands New York this summer and that is a 7+ hr haul........

someone was referring to a trailblazer, but looks like we're all incorrect on the grand cherokee's tow rating:

That was me. Faceplant stated that the G/C had a 6500# tow rating, and the Tahoe had a 6200# tow rating.

I confirmed this on chevy.com, but depends on eng and rear end gear.

I was comparing the lighter/smaller, less hp, Trailblazer to the bigger/heaver, more hp Tahoe

regardless what the towing capacity is on a GC or any other mid sized suv I would never tow a boat that weighs 4200 dry with one.....$.02

I would agree with you on this one g.

I had a 2 dr sport yukon pulling my 21IR Now it weights what abot 1200 less then your 24ve, and NO WAY would I do it. The yukon got pulled all over it. Yes it could pull it and yest it was rated to but it was very hard to stop and control. The boat pulled me all over the road as well due to the short wheel base.

Buy a good truck and you won't regret it.

I know SPBFAN has a titan for his 24 and it towes it just fine. I would get someting bigger still but hey each to his own.

If you really wanted a smaller tow rig I would upgrade to dual axle electric brakes and put a top of the line brake controller in your tow rig.

We had a Durango. I would not reccomend it vs Tahoe, Jeep and a few others like Expedition if you want bigger.

The Durango's rear end hops over bumps when you are towing. At times the 2 in reciever made so much racket I thought I was at a new wave concert.

Even W/o Boat it road like a real stiff pickup. We owned a 99 and then an 02 and got rid of the 02 for an Expedition which doesn't (didn't) know my Fourwinns or my Brothers Maristar were there. Front and rear air and heat made for comfortable people and the herd that goes with. It has a soft ride with or without trailer. Only bitch is like all SUV's Mileage is 12-13 towing and 14 around town to 18.5 on the road with a lead foot. We have the XLT with 5.4.

The only good thing about the Durango's is the beast accelerated well.
