Yeah mine says the same thing. Says it takes into account weights, speeds, rpms and all kinds of other stuff. Technology, gotta love it.

I am using the same oil in my duramax that I use to run in my peterbilt and i would get 15k to 17k out of it before a change so I think the oil will hold up for 7500 in a duramax

Computer, I don't trust no stinkin computer .
I would like to know how the computer is calculating the degree that the oil is becoming dirty and breaking down.
I work for a large city here in the northwest and the shops changes out the oil on all trucks every 3000 miles reguardless of what the computer says.
I just figure it's cheap insurance, heck I wish I had a 1/2 ton gasser like you guys when I have to pay the bill for an oil change.
Curious what your take is on how often to change the tranny fluid?

Well, I figure that the engineers that designed the engine and the system know a thing or two about oil life... plus the computer isnt running a Microsoft OS, so it cant be too inaccurate!

That's pretty cool. That's a tankful of gas on your Tige you saved in oil changes

                4Runner

Does anyone tow with a Toyota 4Runner?

I have a 2006 4Runner Sport with a v8 and hope to be successfully towing a 20v with it. It's rated tow capacity is 7000lbs.

Anyone see any issues with this combo?

Things have changed since 2003. Mine tells me when to change the oil but the manual has all kinds of outs. like if you tow you should change it more often, etc. I do mine once a year, every 4000 miles
                  Let it be!!!

For a 20v, I bet you would be fine. I looked into the same thing not too long ago and found that www.rv.net had some pretty good towing stories/suggestions for the 4runner. I guess the biggest thing most people do to help them tow something with a lot of tongue weight is add airbags to the rear suspension. All 4runners have always been kind of wimpy when it comes to the rear suspension to soften the ride, which is what is nice about airbags, they only come into effect when loaded. Good luck!

On a GM it actually does. The PCM monitors hot and cold starts, trip time/mileage, and driving conditions via the TPS, Trottle Position Sensor and MAP, Manifold Absolute Sensor, which will indicate engine load due to towing.

Regardless of my last post, I change mine every 3k. My oil life is usually around 75% remaining when I do it.

In all my years, I have NEVER replaced an engine because the oil was changed TOO often

Yes, they do tow nice. I pull my 24V no problems with mine. Make sure you do all the maintenance as lined out in the book. Since you are towing with it be sure you change the rear differential oil after 500 miles and make sure to keep receipt and good documentation of all maintenance and oil changes.

I had an engine issue with mine and a rear diff issue right around 12,000 miles and Nissan tried to get out of the warranty until I pulled out all my records and paper work. They did not argue with me then except the fact that I did the work myself Oil changes, Rear Diff, Oil, Ect, Ect.

They said I should of had it done at the dealer. Then we had to bring up that Federal Bill SB1147 that allows you to do your own maintenance or take it to other places to have it done. One thing I did also because they can void the warranty if you don't is I purchased the oil filters from the dealer. That was anther item that saved me. Now I have no problems with the truck and I love my TITAN. It is a lot of truck for a decent price.

                              Merry Christmas.
