I was wondering if any of you have any experience with the Sony a100 DSLR? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on one tomorrow because I can get a smokin' deal. I'm no professional photographer, but I'd like to take some nice pics, and this like it would do the job. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Where is Ragboy?
I don't know to much about what you are looking at, sorry.
Maybe this will help though.
We just bought a Sony hdr-sr5 camcorder w/ Ragboys help/advice. We are playing w/ it right now. My little man and I are having sword fights w/ light savers and recording it. He thinks its funny to watch himself on the TV. We also have a Kodak 4.0 (w/ the old Kodak lens in it). It is about 3 or 4 years old now. That is the best digital camera. I love it. It takes pictures and movies. They are so clear, I rarely take bad pictures w/ it. It is awesome.
This probably doesn't you though.

I know is a film camera, but I would not trade it for the world.Mikes Liquid Audio: Knowledge Experience Customer Service you can trust-KICKER WetSounds ACME props FlyHigh Custom Ballast Clarion LiquidLumens LEDs Roswell Wave Deflector And More

WW has an audio video and photography forum and I think we could use one too.
I have almost bought the Rebel XT on ebay, but got sniped twice.
I started to look at the XTi, as that a bigger screen would be nice...Ragboy, do you feel the upgrade is worth the $150 or so dollars more? (sorry for the hijack).Be excellent to one another.

My wife has the XTi...I'm not allowed to look at it. j/k
It rocks. Super killer pictures, very easy to use, a really nice camera. It does WAY too much stuff that I'm sure she'll never use, but I suppose if she ever feels like trying it out she can. The setting that allows rapid fire shots (don't know the real term) is really nice; when she shoots my MX races she can get some pretty amazing pics at pretty high speeds. It's kinda cool to string them together.
One of our cardiologists has the Sony. He likes it a lot. I've snapped quick pics with it for him and I can confirm it's easy to use in point and shoot mode and it takes real nice pics. Other than that I can't tell ya much about the Sony.Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I have a Canon SD-600 that takes pretty good pictures... It's not an SLR but I just bought an underwater kit for it... Anybody ever use one of these?
We're going on a cruise to the Caribbean next week and we're doing a helmut dive so I'm excited to take some underwater pix...
It should come in pretty handy on the boat as well... I'm super excited to take some water level pix...

If you take a shot, you have to crop in on, the higher the resolution, the more chance you have to salvage the picture.
You have seen the pictures we take, we are just amateurs, and the canon digital rebel xt makes our stuff rock.http://wake9.com/

So now you guys have almost made me change my mind. So I started looking on the "internets" Is this pricing too good to be true?

I know I'll need an SD card and lense, etc.

seems like a pretty good price, do NOT buy the accessories there, just the camera. These places give you good price on camera and bend you over on all else to make money.
Honestly, this is what I would do, this is a great price, $600 with lens.

And its from a good company, those photo places will do everything to try to snake you, they are famous for it. If you haven't shopped from one before, I wouldn't do it. The above comes with the lens you need, and for the best pictures you will also want the 75-300mm lens, which you can also get at walmart. Walmart also carries the upgraded XTI, but its more expensive.http://wake9.com/

I would highly recommend that you get the camera from B& Photo. These are reliable, reputable people that will give you a good price. What you get from Express Cameras may be a camera with a non-USAwarranty even though they say USA warranty, something that B&H never does without fully disclosing. You also need to be aware that some components may be missing, such as a battery, which may be part of the accessory package.
B&H is highly recommended and will stand behind their sales.Ray Thompson
