I don't think anyone in the discussion was "surprised". It was a discussion on the cost of ownership. If 1 boat has a slightly better wake, all else is equal, but it costs you 12k in gas a year, vs. 7k, it is something that should be considered. Is that slightly better wake worth 5k extra a year? or not?

Also, I can afford it, and could afford 10-12gph right now. Business is good. But being self employed, there are times of plenty, and times of not so plenty. My goal is to always have everything paid off, so that if times get not so good... I can still afford to use all of my toys, and my quality of life is just as good. You have to take all these things into consideration, when I was 22, I didn't, and made some big mistakes, which have shaped the way I am today. Hopefully wiser.

90% of the time, we use our company AMEX for the gas and write it off as travel/entertainment but it still comes out of our pockets in a round about way

So, to answer your question, yes you can. I would be careful though; if you're not truly capable of making a living by wakeboarding and you can't prove that you generated an income you will be in trouble. Your accountant should be able to tell you what he/she feels is thier comfort level with the write offs before you do it.

I am friends with many proffesional MX riders and they write of ANYTHING that pertains to thier training, wakeboarding should be no different.
Whats up with the energy drink, tell me more, Sorry for the Hijack, Send a PM or somthing.

I am working on a venture in the wakeboard/wakesurf realm, so I can legitimately write off all of this stuff, and the comps and all.

                    My 2cents

I think EPIC is building a very nice boat. My friend used to own one. It was one of the boats that peaked my intrest in aport boats. I would not mind selling EPIC beside TIGE's. I would probably sell more TIGE's but EPIC would be a great alternative to the TIGE if they could not afford a TIGE.

The ultimate wakesurf boat is this new Tige prototype called the TigeTug TZ204:

that's actually a different company- Toyota actually used to make a line of boats called Epics. They were powered by a 4L DOHC V8, and put out about 300hp. Toyota quit making them because they were losing money on the boats. A real shame though, they were quite good boats.

Your right that is the one I am talking about. I thought maybe Toyota sold off to these guys.

No they are totally different boats. Here's a couple of shots of the Toyota Epics. What eventually killed Toyota was a major boo boo on their part. They left their molds out in the hot sun at the plant and they warped just enough that the boats that were produced from them would not steer corectly and suffered from chine lock. Toyota eventually admitted to it and had to replace each and every boat affected. After that they threw in the towel. From what i understand they were/are real nice boats powered by a marinized Lexus motor.
