a lot of good ideas- 8.1L standard, dual rudders, finally a decent tower, 3,000 lbs of ballast, fair stereo (not a big fan of Xplod crap headunit), interesting design of the transom, we'll see if those speaker holes leak.

However, does anyone else think this thing is fugly? Also not a big fan of Volvo penta. I think that they would have been better off going with indmar, PCM, mercruiser, or even marine power. Thats just my opinion though. Might be fueled by the fact that both boats I saw last year (they were both white) threw main crank bearings while doing demos. Also, with 3klbs of ballast, you should really be running a diesel.

on another note.... the v6 diesel in the MC X-45 and X-80 is absolutely sick!!

How many hours did you put on your boat this season? I put 200 on mine, so that is about $3600 from may through september. And I will put another 50 or so until the next season starts at least. 90% of those hours are towing at 22mph with ballast, or wakesurfing. My tige gets about 6gph. That 8.1 in that hull, with that huge ballast, will probably get 10-12 gallons per hour. Thats a chunk of change if you put a lot of hours on your boat.

I mentioned the hoffmans worried about gas and the new epic. They are on the lake at least 2x as much as we are, but shorter sessions. I bet they put 350 hours or so on the boat in a season, and also go hard year round. So lets say 500 hours per year. Thats $15k per year on gas at 10gph. Thats a lot of money for anyone.

The 23V is 1000lbs less than the tiges. You don't have to fill up the ballast completely full. So if you add 2K ballast then you're the same as a tige with stock ballast, plus the wake specific hull. I don't see fuel consumption being any different than any other boat configured similarly. I don't know of many avg joes that could ride that wake if the ballast was full. FYI, everything that I have heard about the dual rudders is that it handle like it's on rails with ballast.

Sorry- its 4k of ballast (www.epicboats.com), The closest boat would be a 22vé, which weighs in at 3,982 lbs. With stock ballast (3982 + 800), 4782 lbs. Last time I checked, thats considerably less than 7000lbs (3000 + 4000).

            Pretty cheap IMO...
That sideswipe exhaust is going to be a little loud. Especially compared to FAE.

It is no better for surfing either. The exhaust will still swirl up behind the boat.........right where the surfer is.

I think you mis-read the post. Filling up the ballast w/2000 lbs make is comparable to the tige weight. Not many people would actually ride with 4K in it.

Hey Chp, Centurion has been using sideswipe exhaust for some time and theirs is cool becuse you can route the exhaust to the opposite side of the boat from the surfside which vents it out and away. I don't know if it eliminates it all and i don't know if Epics is that way either.

Also, keep in mind that it's not just how tall the wake is, but also the shape and pop you get from it. While other wakes may be taller, you may have to work harder to get the same pop you get from the Tige wake.

I do like the transom speaker idea (something I'd thought of doing to my boat several years ago), but I'm not sure how they'd fare when they got water dumped on them from my wake when I stopped.

Razz is right about the Centurion Sideswipe. It was proven by the us coast gaurd and some other people that it reduces 99% of carbon monoxide.

I wouldn't say reduces, jut redirects to the other side.

Reduces it for the rider... but redirect would be a better way of stating how the system works.

here's some pics I found. no weight and weighted. The wake is very thick when weighted.

When I was at World's Surf contest, I heard a lot of people talking about how it does work, but the problem is, people forget to switch it to the correct side, and so when not set right, can increase CO2 levels. Seems like it would be pretty easy to remember.

I have seen that EPIC wake pic before, it always impressed me. It is huge and thick, but the lighting make it look even more impressive IMO. Still have not seen an EPIC on the lake. Hell, I have not even see an RZ2/4 on the lake yet!
