CP3's tower is real sharp looks like factory, that gets me thinking I want to swap out my Metcrap tower also
It's all good bro A new tower would be the ticket on your boat. Adding a new tower would be like having a new boat

Just looking at the pics it seems the tower mount locations line up really close on both towers.

Gel coat is super easy to fix anyway. You could make the old holes disappear in less than 1 day and you'd never know they were there.
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

I have been considering the exact same thing. I have your tower, and even with 50 pounds of speakers, it does not sway too much. It is not as solid as the Samson. I love the way it lowers, the rotating board racks are well thought out as well.

Do not worry about having to do some gelcoat repair, that is relatively cheap.

Don't forget that you would likely need a new bimini, and that would be perty pricey. I think you are into that at least $500, likely more.

If I order a new boat next summer ( ) I will actually consider that tower on it instead of the factory Tige. It may actually be cheaper, and I think a little more functional.

I got the scoop from Scott at Sampson. The one that CP3 has and that I want is the razor. He said it was cool if I posted his price and pics. The tower, with this bimini and two swivel racks is $4000. Without the bimini is $3500. The racks come setup to hold two wakeboards on one rack and one wakesurf board and one wakeboard on the other. He thought shipping to Texas would be about $180 or so. Here are the pics. If I have time this weekend I will put them up on photobucket so you can see a larger pic...

Here are a couple more. Scott also said that they tower folds down really easily, the billet uprights kind of scissor and that one person can easily take up and down. That would help me as I have to fold down my tower everytime I put it in storage. Now if I can just scare up an extra 4K for this upgrade...

I like how the bimini attaches to the front of the tower. Mine partially blocks the speakers if I do not have it set up.

I assume you do not have to detach the bimini to set it up? Even with some bigger speakers ?

                Me like!

If I remember right you do have to remove the bimini to set it up. I really wish I would have got that tower when I bought my boat. . I have a lot of other things that $4000 would go to first before changing out my tower.

I would do it only if it were part of an entire boat swap out, or if I knew the boat was a 'lifetime boat' and I never planned on selling it.

I think that a late 08 or early 09 boat might be my 'lifetime' boat. Then I am getting too old to be swapping boats out every few years.

You do NOT have to detach the Bimini to lower the tower. I can lower & raise the tower by myself in about 1-2 minutes. I have the 2 can speaker setup also. I can also lower it with the towing cover on it.

I'll post some pics this weekend. I'm bringing my boat home from my warehouse and storing it in my shop for awhile to winterize it.

                          Oooops,

One of the only things I would do different on my tower and I'll probably do this winter is replace the front 2 straps on the Bimini that you can see in the photo with a rigid strut. It would make it sturdier when it's windy and speeds over 30mph. It tends to raise a bit and I've had one of the plastic brackets break.

I have been thinking about this and I agree with Tall, the only way an upgrade like this makes sense is if we plan on keeping our boat for a long time. I own this boat with two other guys and they are not interested in upgrading the tower and the may want out of it in late '08 or early '09. If that is the case then I may get my own newer Tige or buy them out of this one. If I buy them out I will hold onto it for the next 10 years or so and it will make more sense to upgrade. I do, however, like to dream and this along with perfect pass and an auto ballast system would make it pretty freakin sweet!

Thanks to Scott @ Sampson for the pics and info.

I mean do you have to remove the bimini to put the bimini up. Many towers require that you unscrew the bimini legs to then situate the bimini so that it will open. That often then makes it a 2 person job and quite a hassle.

The thing I love about my current bimini is that I can open it by myself.

The question was do you have to detach the bimini to open it up for use. I remember that you had to detach from the non setup position and then reattach the poles in the higher screw location to use it in the shade position. I could be wrong since its been about 3 years since I saw it in person.

I believe that is the reason my wife said buy the boat in stock instead of ordering a boat and getting that tower. Our 2002 20V had the bimini from *&^$. You had to detach it, velcro it etc. Definately a 2 person job.
