2004 20V OR 21I

I've been looking at some boats and like the 20v and the 21i. We will
be using it for wakeboarding, recreational skiing, tubing and running
around the lake. Most of the time their will be only 4 in the boat, 2
adults and 2 kids but would like enough room for eight. Comfort, depth
(side height and seat height) and wake are on the top of my list. Also does anyone know the weight of the stock ballast for these boats and where it is located.

If your only wakeboarding I would go with the 20V, but since you said you will be skiing and you would like room for up to 8 I would go with the 22I. I would think the 20V could seat 8 but uncomfortably, while I know from experience the 22I could seat 8 and there still be good space.

I have a 03 20v, It can fit eight adults very nice (rated for ten), the dry weight is 3800 lbs and it does not come with ballast stock, I think its $1200.00 to add a 1,100 lbs (600 rear and 500 front) ballast system. The wake is perfect with that much weight with taps at 5 or 6. It kicks a good wake with no ballast at all. At 30 mph and taps down the wake is almost gone, I dont ski but people tell me its really good for a v-drive. The boat is very deep compaired to the malibu and nautique's I've seen, sides are nice high, I have had it in some severe chop going through the channel at lake powell and never had a wave come over. Seat height is nice and high, legs go down not out. Can't go wrong, both are great boats, The 20v was our choice because we are wakeboarders. If you ski more then maybe the 21i.

My bad, I was wrong. Gizmo, Scotts has one and he would know. I've never been in one and was just assuming. But I have heard the wakes really nice.

we recently just got a 20v and i am very pleased. we were going to buy the 21i but got the 20v for a number of reasons. it kicks out a big wake, got some sort of slalom wake award or something like that, it comfortably sits 8, with more of an acomodating way (we just had 11 in ours and it wasnt too bad). the boat sits higher than the i's. o and the ballast is now on the 04's 850 (275's in hte back and 150's in the front). shes a beaut.

i beleive the award that your reffering to is that it was certified as an AWSA boat which means it can be used to pull AWSA slalom competitions. If i remember correctly, it is the first V drive to ever get that certification. either boat will be great. jst make sure your going with a tige for your depth requirements. it seems that tige has the area of comfortable seating down pat, way better than any of the other manufacturers. GIZMO said it best. in most other boats your legs have to go out, especially if you are one of us tall folks. in the tige your legs go down. it also feels alot more like you are sitting in the boat rather than on it.

I have a new 22I and love it. I can easily fit 8 comfortable and have no problems. As for the wake it is hard for me to compare to the v-drives, because I have not been behind one. I also wakebaord and ski and when I am wakeboarding the wake is very decent even without ballast.

I chose the 22I for the handling and direct drives have always been a preference for me, but it is a great boat and would not change my mind.

the 20V is the one we got. great deal, thanks to joe. i like it because the i guys have had problem with engine noise. i have had a Moomba before the tige and the Moomba v drive was much louder. course you could sit about trying to talk around the engine on an i.

one other thing, the 20V will turn inside any boat i have ever driven, with the xception of that sea doo twin jet with reversible thrust.

I have a 21i and have not had any problems whatsoever with engine noise. I am surprised by how quiet it is.. and the engine makes a nice footrest

My last boat was a 22ir and I almost couldn't hear the engine unless i was sitting in the very back of the boat and still it wasn't loud at all. I do know that the new 335HP motor is louder than the 315 and even louder than my current 375HP. The lay out of the 22IR is definitly the best layout of any wakeboard boat hands down. IMO

We have an 04 21ir and it is great. Seats everyone comfortable and with the skybox seating, everyone gets a view of the action without neck strain. The engine is very quiet. It is great for both wakeboard and skiing. We added ballast and now can surf behind it.

Mine doesnt seem too loud. But then again, funny how nobody ever talks to me with the engine running. They just keep throwing me hand gestures..... still cant figure out what the middle fingers for.
