    OTC Boat Dollies

ok, so anhaney helped me get a hold of these boat dollies. They work great, only problem was two of them had cotter pins missing on the jack lever that caused a problem. I had to mickey mouse something to get this to work. I guess I will go get some cotter pins tomorrow.

Anyway, I just started leasing this great warehouse. I have been looking for a while, but nothing I liked was available. Well, this one space came available, that is perfect. It is right on the way to the lake. It is 3 miles from my house, and 5 miles from the lake. It allows me to have storage for my business, and a small conference room to use to meet people, so I can keep my office in my bedroom.

The warehouse is split into 2 sides, each about 1000 sq ft. They are 25ft deep, and about 40 ft wide. If I had a 22ft boat, it would be perfect, just back in and leave it. But my 24Ve hangs out about 4 inches even with the tongue folded and swim platform off. So my goal is to be able to come home from the lake, and quickly put the boat away, and then ready to take out next time. It is a HUGE pain to jog the dual axle trailer to the right angle. The dollies make this MUCH easier, but not as easy as I thought. Still takes 2 guys, or me and 2 kids to move it around. I wish someone would invent a frickin caster wheel that didn't need to do a 180 to go in the other direction. You know?

Now, all I need to do is see if I can get a slightly bigger rollup door (about 6") so I don't have to take my tower down.

One more thing. I like the way the dollies have a pin to LOCK them into the up position, so I can leave them that way. Very nice.

    Here are some pictures:

Here is what it looks like when I would back in straight, and then hook up the dollies.

And here is what it looks like when it is in the FINAL position:

OK, now that I know I really like these, and they work well, I need 4 more for the other side.

You can view all the pics HERE.

The thing that makes it nice, is it is in the most perfect location. It is right on the way to everything, including the lake. It is on the main road down the moutain, tucked right in the fork, where one road goes down to the lake, and the other goes into the main town of Paradise. It is on the very north tip of paradise. We moved up here, 4 years after starting our business, and just ever surviving what 9/11 did to the economy and my industry. Stuff went dark for like a year, it was tough. So we made sure we didn't buy a house that was bigger than we needed. Keep our overhead low. So we live on a half acre in a beautiful house in the woods, in small community surrounding a golf course. I think the average age in this community is 104. LOL. But our house is only 1900 sq ft, and our mortgage is only 1400/mo.

One thing I have learned, especially being self employed, is keep your overhead low, buy cash as much as possible, and don't get tied to a huge mortgage. We have tried to move to a bigger house, but the market is so bad here right now, all the people that have to sell, or lowering their houses so much, or foreclosing, so it would be impossible for us to sell. So we found this perfect warehouse, and its only .60/sq ft. Now, I could only rent one if I wanted, but then I wouldn't be able to fit EVERYTHING. I still have to get all my computer junk in there, and 8 ATVs. Not to mention, I would guess, if I got one, some dude would rent the other, for some shop or something, and would squat for like 10 years. And I would be in the other, trying to squeeze everything in a tight space, not having enough room, and kicking myself in the butt for not getting both of them. You know? So I got both, its only a year to year lease, so I feel good about it. Now I can free up my garage and my home completely and not feel so cramped.

Sorry for the rant, but I am just really excited about getting the warehouse. It really is perfect for me. My garage will be cleared out next week, and it will become a school room/game room. Pool table and xbox 360s on system link. Some 8 player team fortress 2.

Y, I have grown up with one, and we had one in our last house. The warehouse will free up enough room, and our garage has been completely drywalled and insulated, so I think we may get one in there.

I have a 4 1/2 x 9' brunswick. It is not the drop pockets. It has the ball returns. We have an old Ivory set of balls. I don't have any idea how old they are (at least 45 year old for sure). I know my grandfather had 11 tables and when he died my dad got one. We have movies of us playing pool (I was 5) w/ flat top hair cuts. Looks funny. The table needs a new top and bumpers. I don't have to room at my house to keep it up, so I have been thinking about a warehouse somewhere around the house. I may look into that.

I like that. But it will be the official address of BigHead Technology. And I will have a conference room and server building section in there. Soooooo, the toybox gets written off. Woo Hoo!

That is what I want to do Ragboy. Get a Wharehouse somewhere where I can store my boat, Waverunners, and any future toys. Plus if I could get enough space I will put a truck hoist in it so I can do my own car repairs. Nice set up.

Also. you can have two new dolly's sent out to you under warranty. I can set that up for you if needed. They will send them through CARQUEST again if you don't want to fix those ones. And if you ever have any other problem with them let me know.

Thanks again, but I think they are fine, just need a couple of cotter pins. I do think I want to get at least 2 more for my pontoon boat, though.

I will have to take pictures of the outside of the warehouse, so you guys can see it in the middle of the pines. It really is beautiful.
