Yes (a waste of $) on the hi-test, no advantage at all for storage and not the best to have in the tank next spring.

My cooler is a metal cylinder in the raw water hose with to trans fluid line running to it. Not sure if yours has one or what it looks like.

there's enough classic I's on here, someone will know.

There was a write-up on WSR last year about fuel grades. I think the gist of it was that the higher octane fuels break down more quickly. This is compounded by the fact that the service stations don't sell as much of them, so the gas isn't as fresh to start with.

I'd use regular with Stabil or something like it. For a while I was adding it to every tank during the months where we're not out more than once a week.

          That's a good idea. Thanks

Hey dogbert, do you do some surfing? I have a 21i, how much different is my boat then yours? If you do, what kind of ballast are you using and what do you set you taps at.

          Chptril,
I found in the manuals about the trans cooler hose, it also says to remove the inlet seawater hose. I didn't notice that until you brought that up. Thanks alot. I feel a little better about this now.

I just want to thank everyone for there expertise. I found out today that my impeller was in several pieces, will post a picture later. Changed that out and got the boat winterized. Thanks Chptril for all the extra info and letting me call, and anhaney for the oil info too. This web site has been a blessing for me. I don't like working on engines but I don't like paying someone to do the things I can do.

Just for future reference, is there an easy way to get the impeller into the housing? I took a zip tie and tighten around the impeller until I could get it started. I think after talking to Chptril I may need a new housing because mine is pretty rough inside, I would have taken a picture but my wife had the digital camera. Any suggestions where I can get housing, see one online for around $330? I Wasn't expecting that.

            Thanks again.

Zip tie will do just fine. We actually used an oil filter.. thing..? and some lubrication. Soap will work but dont use alot or you will have bubble coming out of your boat all year. We used some stuff that removes grease off your hands, slippery but doesnt bubble.

The hull is pretty much the same, just the engine placement is different. That will affect the weighting some.

I'd PM Domsz06 or NICKYPOO since he has the same boat as you, except a foot longer. I would think you'd be able to get a pretty nice surf wake by loading up one side with about 750lbs - 1000 lbs. as far back as you can get it. That's what we do. We'll have a 350 in the ski locker (on the passenger side) and 2 350s in the V-Drive locker. One time we added about 400 up front and had 8 people in the boat (when we went out with ASC Boards guys and yllw20). The wake was spectacular but the boat was very hard to handle.

I know NICKYPOO does a lot of surfing and got his wake pretty dialed in.

thanks anhaney, I have all the info but I don't know what was on the front. I will look tomorrow after work and pm you.

Zad, that is a good idea thanks. I couldn't get the impeller in until I sat back and though about it for a bit. We have some stuff at work that will work fine, I just didn't ask if I could use it. I wasn't planning on changing it out this wkend.

Well, here are the pictures I took of my impeller. I think is was coming apart the last time we were out. I had some issues that day but didn't know what was wrong. I did learn how important it is to change out at the beginning of the season and that I could do this, thanks to you guys.

I do have one more question, I am a pretty good toolmaker. Is the depth of the housing critical? Can I go in and machine the bottom surface smooth again. I would say I would have to take out about .015 to .020". Chptril suggested getting a new housing and keeping this one as a spare.

Thanks dogbert, I will send them a pm. I noticed when we went out w/ Chptril he pulled us on the left side of the boat. Is there a reason for this? Could you do it off the drivers side (right) of the boat. Does the prop rotation have anything to do w/ it? It would be easier for me to add weight to the driver side so everyone could still walk around on the boat w/out walking over the fat sacs.

It all depends if you are regular or goofy footed. Regular means you put your left foot in front and you typically wakesurf on the left side. Goofy means you put your right foot forward and typically surf on the right side of the boat. If you don't know what you are, stand with your feet side by side and have somebody push you backwards, whatever foot you use to catch yourself determines whether your goofy or regular.

                          TRD,

I weighted the port side because wife and son are regular, and most everyone else that has rode with us. I was the only goofy one in the bunch (more ways then one ) so I just learned to surf reg.

Our 22Ve starboard surf wake is actually slightly cleaner then port when weighted the same.

When I grow up, I want to have 2 custom surf sacs like some tige owners

Amen to that, except maybe I'll get a newer boat so I can hang with you guys.

As for the weighting, the prop rotation does produce a cleaner wake on the port side, however, we've had some monster wakes on the starboard side. The boat handles like sh** when you do that, though.

Basically, if you can weight your boat such that you have water coming over the rub rail (but not into the back of your lockers), your wake is going to be pretty sweet. As Surfdad pointed out, you want to lean the boat over as much as you can. Be careful on the starboard side because the prop rotation has a tendency to pull the boat over that way.

Does this mean if I am left foot forward I am regular? Then I would want to ride on the left side (passenger, PORT side), is this correct?
