I also work in IT, but on the support side, I manage a small technical helpdesk/systems monitoring/communications team for First American Flood Data Services. We provide flood determinations for mortgage companies and we most likely did yours when you bought your house or refinanced.

I work in Business Intelligence for the Government. Yeah, I know- an oxymoron.
Basically, I make data usable. I'm an Oracle DBA, and I develop reporting applications for consumption in the Texas Dept. of State Health Services and the Texas Dept. of Aging and Disability Services. I'm currently developing a new solution to our reporting needs with Business Objects Enterprise, for approximately 1500 users in the two agencies.
Probably heading back to the private sector in the next 6 months.Freude am Fahren.

I was worried about the whole thing when oracle was trying to acquire them, since that would have restricted them to only oracle as a data source. However, SAP is platform independent, and as such can run on just about any database. Plus, bobjects has been developing SAP solutions for years. Basically, a 1.2 Billion/year company now gets to leverage the resources of a 12.1 Billion/year company. I look at it like Dell acquired Alienware.Freude am Fahren.
