Many TVs say they are 1080P, because they DISPLAY an image at 1080P, but many times can only receive up to 1080I. Also, some TVs will display and receive 1080P, but their native resolution is only 1366x768, so it is not really 1080P.

Your tv shows it can only do 1080P with hdmi, only up to 1080I with component.

I find it amazing at the amount of misinformation available about HD video. The average consumer is conned into all sorts of things. I just explained how a Sony HDDVD camcorder video in ACHD, edited in supported video editor, exported to an ACHD video then burned onto a DVD video disc is not HD. The "Geek Squad" had told him otherwise.

Well, that is why you don't believe the Geek Squad.

The problem is that the xbox is not pushing out any signals via the HDMI cable. Hence, I am unable to get the 1080p. Might be another setting inside the xbox that I haven't seen yet that will tell the xbox to utilize the hdmi and not the component video cable...... Haven't seen it yet but it could be there.

            Well on my MAC..... ;-)

The new imovie supports AVCHD natively. Its awesome. And I can output to 720P or a size I like to use of 960x540. It makes it still easy to download. So from iMovie, I connect my camera, it pulls in the footage, you edit, and then you create a gallery and upload to share, no dvd needed. Also, I put in itunes and on my iphone if I want. My apple TV displays the HD version. Again, no need for DVD.

This was done completely with that process, and the video was shot with my sony AVCHD camcorder with 30gb hard disk in it.

            http://gallery.mac.com/ragboy#100000

Click LARGE to see the 960x540 version. This was shot in HD SP, not XP, I now use XP.

Stills with the Canon Rebel XT.

Make sure the GAME supports 1080P, some 360 games only go to 720p or 1080i, it should say on the box.

As long as you stay digital, and with the proper codecs, then it stays HD. You can't burn that on a DVD and get HD though.

Yeah and hddvd/bluray burners are way too expensive. Thats why the apple tv is nice.

So they are out touristing today, and I get this picture. This is what happens when you push them when they are little, and they have no fear:

Reminds of many years ago, with Just Ashley and Whitney at Disneyworld.

Now that is a wild pic. When I lived in Fla we had 3 gators in the lake at our back door. Glad the wall was to high for them to get over. One was about 15'. You girls aren't scared of much are they. LOL

Not to change the subject be hoping one of you guys may know something about camcorders. I am looking at a sony High Def Hard Drive (hdr-sr5) for when my little boy starts sports. I have read about a click that the hard drive picks up when recording, I think I have heard it when testing some camcorder out, but some are worst then other. Is this normal? Any suggestions? Anybody else heard of this? I figured you guys might know something, just hoping.
                            Thanks

However, the difference between the two is that one of the 'gators has tape over it's snout....

I think she is going to become a zoologist or a veteranarian...

She wanted to be a vet, but she really wants to be a US forest Ranger.

Yes, when they were little, the gator had tape on the snout. That was taken at Gatorland, which is a WILD place. I remember that day, even though, I always push my kids to try things, and they trust me, I didn't think they would do it. They didn't even whine. They just asked me if the snake or alligator would bite them, I said no, I will be right there, and they sat down and let them do it, it was the snake on the neck that I thought was going to be an issue.

Seeing Ashley man handle that bigger gator, with no tape, just cracks me up, and makes me proud at the same time. All my kids are like that, they have learned taking reasonable risks can be fun, and always be willing for a new thing or an adventure.

On the camera, I have the sr5, and it works great. The best thing, is that it doesn't need a tape, I love it. I can tape ALL DAY on the boat, just get extra big battery. The picture is great, the only issue, is the AVCHD format. Most of the tools to edit it, are sucky. I think adobe premiere now supports it. The greatest I have found is iMovie '08 which comes on all new macs.

The thing is, I have all the best tools for editing, for other uses. I have the entire final cut pro suite, which costs like 2k. However, when I film my family and stuff, I want to just quickly edit something together. iMovie 08 feels that bill perfectly. Just simple cuts and effects and music. I made a movie of our summer with it, and the video I shot was from the SR5. I have posted it before, but if you haven't seen it, it only took me a couple of hours to import, edit and output this.

                                http://gallery.mac.com/ragboy#100000

One last thing, even if you don't have any AVCHD software yet, it will work using the standard mode, which is the same as the older DVD-MPEG format. You can use that format, until you get your HD stuff lined up. The picture is still great, and the hard disk lasts forever in that mode.
