I have always been fine in the heat, and when we lived in SoCal, went to the river, and mead mostly. Used to go all the way to temple bar for seclusion. Then one 7/4 my wife almost died of heat exhaustion. It was so bad, they had to helicopter her to LV and put her in front of a guy with a heart attack. It scared the crap out of me, and one of the reasons I pushed harder to move up here. You have to be careful, because each of my kids are different. Ash and RJ don't ever show any issues, but Whitney, like her mother is very sensitive to heat, and I have to force her to drink water.

I have had my kids on the water since birth, but since that incident, I am much more careful, and the river can me a nasty place for someone who is more sensitive.

I'm gonna pile on here and say congratulations! Both my children were on the water at their firt opportunites. My daughter was on the water the weekend we brought her home from the hospital. She was less than a week old. It helped that her grandparents have a houseboat.

I will tell you, they are amazing, my daughter is 2, and currently sick, sitting next to me on the couch, and intermittently throwing up. There is absolutely nothing I would rather be doing than cleaning up her vomit, and reassureing her everything will be fine.

Now, if I could get my son from screaming "ewww throw up" every time it happens! It kind of freaks her out.

Here's to no sleep! congratulations again!

That's funny. I have been working, and earlier watching movies with my kids, all while my 2yr old is sitting on the potty on a towel next to me all day, potty training her. With my wife, she gets up, with me, she stays put. Its not vomit, but its like the toilet is following me wherever I go.

Its definitely a kick in the pants to have kids spread from 16 to 2, whole different dynamic.

I will also pile onto your congratulations. Take some pics of that kid on the boat.
