For sure I will take the baby on the boat just not the one party trip or when it's 115 at the river....

Your life just got better and a whole lot more value has been added to it. Just remember to make the wife and kids your first priority in life and you will love the frustrations that come with it all.

She already comes first..... now that my baseball career is over

Our boys are old enough they don't have to wear life jackets anymore. And they love having the infants around.

One more thing you will find in a few years your not he one on the water. The kids will be and you will be stuck behind the wheel of the boat. But it is worth every bit of it.
I'm already stuck behind the wheel after my 5 min run

We take kids all the time, that just won't get in the water, bummer for them.
Not my kids. My oldest was jumping off the back of the boat as soon as he could crawl. Of course, he managed that at 7.5 months and then proceeded to walk (well, it was more like an out-of-control-run) at 8 months. He loved the boat. We didn't have a Tige back then, but we did have a cuddy so that was nice for extending the boating time.

My youngest used to be afraid of getting his head under water until about 3. That's when his brother pushed him off the sundeck. It was all over after that. He would tube until he fell asleep (literally). I learned how to drive him to the dock without waking him up.

Belated congrats on the whole daddy thing.
Couple of questions for you experienced parents out there though. Seems I am due to be a dad for the first time in January. I just bought this boat last year and have no plans of slowing down this summer. What are the safety issues with taking a 5 month kid out on the boat? Are there special lifejackets and such designed for them and stuff like that? Or is it just a bad idea to take a kid this small out on the lake?

We took them, from like 8 weeks old with Jessica. RJ also. They make special jackets, but for the most part, that little, they will probably be in someones arms.

Here is jesse at a few months old, in her special vest, and you can kinda see her carrier in the background, where she would sleep.

I would try not to go out when its really rough or in bad weather until they are old enough to ALWAYS be in the vest, prob about 6 mos.

I can get you a baby vest that is designed for infants. They are not to expensive. We took the baby on the boat when he was 5 days old.
