    Capital Watersports: Revisited

Well, before I completely wrote them off, and go to another dealer for the work I need done, I decided to drive down there today and speak face to face with Kevin, the owner, first. I had to drop my wife and daughter at the airport so it was a good time, they are heading to INT nationals.

I stop in and meet a new salesman and ask if any RZ4s are in, to get a look first. They didn't have any, so I took a look at the RZ2's. Pretty nice. Still want to see an RZ4.

I tell him I would like to speak to the owner Kevin, I have had some bad experience with service/parts, and have heard several other experiences that were not pleasant re: their service dept. By his reaction, I could tell this was nothing new. He said "let me take you to the owner, Tom." I thought kevin was the owner? He says kevin was NOT the owner, just the manager. ? OK?

So I meet this guy Tom, and he is very interested to hear what I have to say, and says kevin is gone, and so is christina. (Christina was the girl that said she ordered my parts over and over and they never were, and never came.) He said he apologizes for the issues I and others have had, and he is there to fix it, and the people responsible are gone. He writes done everything I ask for, like a price on factory ballast install, and a few other things, and promises to call me on Monday. He also gave me a box of Tige glasses, the drinking kind.

Anyway, I am hopeful. I will let you know if he calls me on monday. If he does, and the price is reasonable, I will def give him a shot putting in the ballast.

So for the rest of you that were wary of CWS, things may be looking up. No need to head to livermore, maybe. I will let you know how it goes.

I hope Tom comes through for you ragboy. You've been through enough with CWS. Good luck!

Wow, I am shocked. I have always had a great experience with Kevin. I wonder what is going on.... I am shocked and they have only been in business for less than 2 years.... Hum..... IMO, something is wrong or mis-managed....

I dunnow, but when I got my boat, he seemed like a decent guy, but kept going on about how he was only 28 and how he owns the dealership, and that shows he knows his sh*t and stuff like that. I didn't think much of it at the time. Tom said that Kevin had an opportunity to buy the dealership, but he was never the owner, just the manager. I may be wrong, but I got the feeling that Tom was sincere, and that he really meant to make things right. I guess I will know soon. I am sure there is more than one side, but it sure seemed mismanaged when kevin was there. Selling seemed good, but not after sales service/support.

I totally agree with you. I was patient with them and will always be patient with them. However, if their service increases because of this change, then I am all for it but it would be interesting to find out exactly what has transpired.

          Please keep us aware.

            Great News

Wow, this is potentially great news. I was about to buy a 20V in August from their Rocklin store based on a positive sales experience. However, after viewing some negative feedback voiced on this forum I decided to checkout CWS further. I visited the RC store to view the service operations and to meet Kevin. Kevin wasn't there that day and I wasn't very impressed with what I saw from the service department.

Then I met Kevin two weeks ago at their "clearance" sale at Raley field. I thought he was extremely unprofessional with a major attitude. He bad-mouthed other dealers and his own employees while he talked about how at 28 he had grown the dealership to the #2 dealer in the country. When I asked about future plans for the service department he responded he wasn't going to invest any money or additional manpower until that department became a profit center.

Needless to say I decided not to buy a Tige and have been looking at used Malibu's instead. Now I may give CWS a second chance with the new "owner". I do really like the 20V.

Y, his I am only 28 and here is what I have done was a bit annoying.

I got a call today, as promised, from Patrick in Service. He advised me well about the factory ballast, and possibly not working if the activity center wells hung down too low. He did tell me they could automate my current sac system as another option, and put switches on the dash. I told him to give me prices on both, waiting to hear back.

The fact that I got a call back today, was already a 100% improvement over previous dealings.

Wow, something has changed for the better. I had odds that he would call. No offense, but their track record was a little bad in hte past. I have to take my boat in for warranty work. I will keep everyone posted to the outcome to this and see if they have improved.

It's a tough business to be in, and if Capital WS is trying to sell, perhaps the prospective buyer of the business should be held accountable for bad past experiences.

Maybe CWS, like most businesses that sell, was going to hold the note, and Kevin was being phased in as a prospective owner, and he dropped the ball.

Is the Sausalito Tige' dealer too far for you guys?
I drive several hours to our dealer, Tige in Corona, and it's worth the trip.
Lots of happy employees and customers.

We usually plan other adventures in the area when we go to Tige'.
Gameworks, Yardhouse, factory outlets stores,, ect ect,,.
                  Worth the long drive.

Sausalito is about two hours from Rancho Cordova and Tige in Corona is 10 hours away towards San Diego. It is looking like CWS might be coming around but I still want to know the whole ordeal. This is crazy but again, it's probably for the better.

I thought that the dealership was doing well with Kevin. He knew me and by GF very well and our salesperson was best friends with Kevin so we got the hookup. I just didn't know that they were that bad since I got good service. Yes, it took awhile but I expected it because I know that a boat dealership is nothing like a car dealership where the car dealership already has all the items for your car on site.....

CWS is closest to me, and that is 2.5 hours south of me. I wish there was a Tige dealer in Redding. Every other boat dealer is in redding, because of the closeness to lake shasta.

There are some GREAT dealers in redding, too, with great reps.

Hopefully I get a call today with some prices.

Now this is the service department that you are dealing with and not the owner directly. right?????

                            ragboy

Discussed everything with Tom the owner of CWS and Patrick and explained all of the items and issues doing the ballast. I am glad to see you received your call and i beleive that things will be better. I will support Tom as with all of the dealers and for anyone that had a bad expericence I appoligize but please give CWS/Tige Boats the chance to make it right.

If you are still looking, give Tri Valley Marine a call...I have heard decent things about them. They're in Livermore.
