What are you talking about? They are paid extremely well and they have a seemingly endless expense account. Plus they get to vote themselves raises whenever they want.

There are reasons that politicians spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays $150k. I think they get a lot more than what's on the paycheck. It's like the people that use expense accounts for everything they ever spend, so their paycheck is just play money or can be put in the bank or investments.

I think they're up to at least $180K.

Probably so...but that's still about 1/10 of what many spend to get the job. Imagine somebody paying $500k to a headhunting company, just to get into a job that pays $50k a year. It's about the same thing. Something smells fishy.

They don't spend their money, get real.

They often spend a lot of their own money. When was the last time you saw a person with an annual income of under $40k run for president? Back in the days of Washington?

They can also serve one term and get a pension retirement with cost of living increases. They are not on the same Social Security program as you. They have pretty much free healthcare. The list goes on and on. I like the Jeffersonian idea that you limit it to a single term, and hang all the lawyers.

But, that's never going to happen.

So I say, if you can beat 'em, join 'em. Who's in? While we're at it we can start pushing our own agenda w.r.t. our boating needs.
