Definitely get the RZ2, that seems like a great price for one with ballast, plus it is a great looking boat if you like the pickle fork look. I like that the bow sits up higher than the MC X-star and doesn't have the really high transom with steps that the MB Tomcat has.

We didn't use ballast for the first six or so months that we had our boat, but we do now occasionally when we are feeling like the extra pop it gives us. I also use it to surf since that is mostly what I've done since I hurt my knee and back. It is always something you can add and since I have it with the hard tanks and hate losing that much space, I plan to switch over to sac tanks eventually. Until Tige offers under the floor ballast or a sac system, I would personally put it in aftermarket.

Nobody's mentioned resale. I think it will be easier to get rid of a boat with ballast than without. Granted, this is a lot of years down the road hopefully, but now is the time to think about it. Besides that, it's one more tool you can use to make your time on the water more enjoyable.

I have a 20V w/ no ballast and we started wakeboarding this year. I am comfortable jumping and the wake is absolutely fine for now. I could see where perhaps in a couple years I could "outgrow" my no ballast wake though.

I agree with your assessment of the wedge and TAPS, with one exception. With the TAPS down it doesn't push the bow down, but pushes the transom up. The bow dropping is the result of the transom going up. The end result is the same, just the reason why.

And with the TAPS up, the transom of the Convex hull will sit deeper in the water.

It amazes me that so many non Tige owners don't really understand the TAPS and Convex hull combination.

It's like standing at the back of the boat and lifting it up, The front will go down as the rear goes up.

Start with 400s or 440s in the rear lockers and get the integrated bow sac. In my experience, the bow sac, should be used sparingly. The 24Ve doesn't seem to like a lot of weight in the front, and seems to take away your ability to use TAPS as much.

That will give you a killer WB wake. Also great surf wake, with enough people to really list over the boat. Otherwise, you may want to replace one of the the locker sacs with a enzo sac, on the side you surf. I would get one fat brick for minor adjustments when needed.

The boat I am looking at does not have it in it. How much is it typically to have a dealer add an auto ballast system say with 4 bags or tanks two up front in the lockers and two in the back? Curious for comparison shopping. Thanks.

thought i was going with the 24ve with no ballast for 50000 but want to demo the 07 mobius gravity games, for 48000...anybody know any thing about these boats? 1900lbs of factory ballast sounds sweet. warranty is 3 years unlimited hours.

The word on the street is that you will need that warranty for a lot of things. They are more cheaply made.

The ride is going to be different. Nothing rides as smooth as a Tige. If you have any chop at your lake, test both boats in it and feel the movement in the hull when you hit some waves. The Tige will be solid.

I find the wake in a Tige is awesome, and a Tige with 1K in ballast is as good as most others with 2k. Don't let the ballast system persuade you.

I have said that I would own a Supra if I didn't own a Tige. Skier's choice makes both Supra and Moomba. Not now. The dorks at SC have made the driver's seat so jammed in that I have my knees jammed into the dashboard, and have to fold up like a lawnchair just to get out of the seat. I am 6'9" so obviously am not the norm, but even other guys of any size are going to find that driver's seat pathetic.

I also was in your position. And I looked at the moombas. Just compare the moomba to the supra, and you will see how much they cut corners and LEFT OUT of the moomba. Plus, the moomba sits lower in the water, and is narrower.

We almost bought the bu 247, real close. But the bu, even though it has a MONSTROUS cockpit, you are giving up the bow. The bow is tiny. I made the mistake of thinking we wouldn't need it. My wife said no way on the bu because of the bow, and then we found the Tige, that was the perfect balance for us. The bow on the 24Ve is much bigger than the bus, and my teenage girls love the lounge type seats and sun up there all day long. My kids and wife love the bow, and am sure glad I didn't make that mistake.

Also, we compete at INT and ride behind a wakesetter VLX all the time, with ballast and wedge. With just 800 lbs in my lockers, my wake is definitely bigger, and without ballast about the same. Also, I can adjust my wake with the taps.

Lastly, try to get 6-7 gph on the bu with wedge and ballast, or the moomba with 2000 lbs of ballast. I put 180 hours on my boat this season, do you know how much gas I saved? My Tige 24Ve with the ballast, gets better GPH than my 1998 Four Winns did, with 5.7 280HP EFI motor.

I am very glad I ended up with my Tige.

would be easier to buy the tige, less money, full 3 year warranty, and a closer dealer who seems to bend over backwards to help.....a little worried about resale with no ballast, and really wanna learn to surf...the increased gas milage would be huge though and we love to ride in the bow too. don't really care about losing storage too much as we have a lakehouse and don't need to pack a ton of stuff...the boat is beautiful...it's the yellow one in the brochure

Go with the 07 Tige and take the 2k diff and do your own custom ballast. I think you will have so much more boat with the Tige. Besides, the Bu is 2 yrs old now.
