    Heartbroken

Had a little "incident" this weekend involving my three week old 20V and a rock. I was going about 4 to 5 mph in a no wake zone on Saguaro lake on Saturday in the narrow part just past the beach area BEFORE the non marked hazard zone near the dam. (Everyone assumes I was past the hazard buoys. I was NOT!) Let this be a warning to everybody out there. There are some spots that are marked and clearly some spots that are NOT. We weren't screwing around, just finished boarding and tubing and we thought we'd take a little cruise and have some lunch. All of a sudden... BOOM! I slammed it in reverse and tried to assess the damage but couldn't see anything without a mask... It took out the first "fin" on the underside of the boat and ripped the bolts from the fiberglass. Two holes the size of a bolt took us out.

Needless to say, I am devastated. We tried to make it back to the marina and we just ran out of time... It just took on too much water too fast. Everything happened so quickly, I just thank God that no was hurt. I lost my skis, board, ropes, and a bunch of other stuff too. I think these pictures say it all... I haven't been able to sleep all weekend.

If you were out there and gave us a hand, I just want to say thank you. It's good to see other boaters looking out for each other... I'll keep you guys updated. It looks to be a total loss at this point.

I managed to get it back on the trailer by paying the marina $2,600... Well the insurance company anyway...

I'm not going to stay away from boating... No way... I'm already looking at an 07 22Ve. I liked the 20V but it filled up fast when you put a few people on it... We'll see what the insurance says...

Glad you weren't going fast, those kind of rocks can cause some serious injuries. So good to hear that no one was injured.

The holes look sizable, but not huge...how long before the boat was full of water? I would have considered just speeding through the no wake zone onto the ramp. It would have caused several thousand dollars in damage to just drive it up the ramp, but would have saved the boat from sinking.

Speeding through the no wake zone is something we should all do at least once in our lives. We once had a scare with a pregnant woman at Lake Mead... I must have gotten the bird at least 5 times.

BTW, this is likely fodder for other boat manufacturers that just don't attach the fins so sturdily, then when their fins come off, they don't sink the boat. They lose fins far more than a Tige, but rarely lose an entire boat due to the fin striking something.
                  Be excellent to one another.

I believe that's the airline for the airbags...

Thanks for all your support guys...

I still can't believe this happened...?!?!?

I would have sped through the no wake zone... As a matter of fact I did... There were 3 of us on the boat. The boat would only let me go about 7mph. I'd say it took about 30 min. for the boat to fill and turn over... Thank God my wife wasn't with us... She would have freaked out even more than she is now...
