Water Sports Merit Badge

I know there are some other scouters out there. I found out they changed the Waterskiing Merit Badge to Water Sports Merit Badge. It becomes effective 01/01/08.

My son has already earned the Waterskiing Merit Badge. Do you think he could earn this one too. After 01/01/08 of course. Maybe you could do one this year and the new one next year? Kind of like a 2 for 1.

Anyway it's good to see they are updating it. I hope they alter the patch to reflect the change as well.

After it comes out your son doesn't have it, so yeah get it. I don't see any reason at all why he couldn't!!

My son did the Watersports merit badge at scout camp this summer (Camp Winton) on a wakeboard. Its too bad they keep dumbing down the badge requirements (in this case single skiing). He's still working on getting up on a single ski, but a lot of kids won't.

"While on shore, show that you now how to properly adjust the bindings on your ski(s) or wakeboard to fit yourself. Then, in deep water, show that you can adjust bindings to fit. Recover and put on your ski(s) or wakeboard that has come off during a fall. "

I've never tried it but, I've heard it if you a deep V handle you can stick the tip of the ski in the V and it will keep the ski going straigh and more stable, I never had any problems getting up
