I've always like nanKang tires. They always seem to have more load carrying capacity than the Goodyear Marathon counterpart.

I actually had one carlisle blow out about a month ago....I got out and changed it. I started heading down the road and another one blew out on the other side. I had read on here about you guys saying to change them every 5 years or they blow like clockwork and then I realized that since my boat was an '02.....that the tires were about 5 years old. 2 tires in 40 minutes! Talk about an uplifting experience right after my first boat purchase. HAHA! I replaced them all with tires from Discount!

Americas Tire can order Transmaster (Greenball). Have had good luck with them so far for 2 years. They Have a nice thread pattern on them. I have the ST 205 75R 14 size. You may want to consider them also.

I found that Peerless Tire could get one in today for $64.39. Total with tax, mounting and balancing is $83.40. I figure this in't too bad. At least I will have my spare back. (Not to mention the large Tige symbol on the tire cover).

Discount did have the Carlisle tire, but they also wanted $105 for it mounted.

Now that you mention it, mine were 5 years old this year as well. I would have had one blow, but I happened to be working on the car next to the boat and dropped a bolt and of course it scooted under the boat. When I started looking for it, I noticed the tread was separated on the inside of the tire all the way around. You could not see it standing next to the boat. Made me thankful I dropped the bolt.

I had a set of Towmaster on trailer when I bought it and they worn terribly, lasted maybe 5k-10k miles at best. Trailer manufacture sold me GY Marathons for cost for good will and have been trouble free for 3yrs since.

We have to tow 4-5 hrs for most trips so I've used several different tires over the years on many types of trailers. For me the Marathons have been the best. No sidewall cracking and suburb tracking on single axel trailers. I now have them on my boat trailer and the triple axel enclosed. If your not far from your destination they might not be worth the extra money. I get mine from Americas Tire, they just have to order them.

Ok, it seems like Goodyear has a pretty good rep. But somebody has to have a bad GY story right??? Carlisle's keep getting slammed but I've had mine since 02 (6 seasons) with no problems. I used to hear 3 years was the limit for tires. I keep my trailer outside but the tires are covered year round and I put the whole trailer on blocks for the off-season (about 8 months). I've noticed some small cracks close to the rims of all 5 tires for at least 3 years but all 3 of them I decided to keep em for "1 more season". I know, I'm pushing my luck.

I have heard of no bad stories with the GY marathons. Go to a car race or horse event where there are a lot of heavily used heavy load trailers and you will see mostly marathons. I have them and they have been great even considering I launch in saltwater, which I have heard can be pretty bad on tires as well, I believe it.

I just replaced all my Carlisle's with Goodyear Marathons.

My new trailer is to the hilt Carlisle. Carlisle galvy wheels, Carlisle tires.

I just replaced mine with Carlisles again. They originally came with a set that lasted 5 years. I replaced them with other set of Carlisle tires and they lasted 5 years. I hope this set will last me five more. My first flat tire ever, on my trailer, was my last trip. Which is why I replaced them all.
