    Trailer Tires

First of all, I am a long time reader, but first time poster.

I have recently purcased a 1999 2100i w/ the extreme trailer. I am have difficulties finding new tires for the trailer. I don't really want to order these online and pay shipping, or have to wait forever to get them. Does anyone know of a tire chain that carries trailer tires in stock, or any other place that might have them. By the way, I am located in Denver.

On a side note, does anyone know how the emergency cable for the trailer brakes can be replaced? Mine is broke and frayed. For peace of mind I need to replace it.

    Thanks.

I just replaced mine this summer at NTB. Discount also carried them in stock. What kind of trailer? I think most of the manufacturers have web sites with replacement parts.

Pep Boys, Discount Tire, Tire Kingdom. If you need a wheel/tire set as a spare, check Northern Tool if you have them in your area.

I know there is a local tire shop in Loveland that carries them. I can't remember the name right now but if I drive by there later today I'll post it later.

That is if you want to drive to Loveland.

Last year we got a 2000 21V with an Extreme trailer. First thing I did was replace the original Carlisle tires. I got Goodyear Marathon ST205/75R14 tires at Tire Rack.com. They're still $72 ea with shipping of $43 to SoCal. They took 4 or 5 days UPS right to my front door. I don't think there was sales tax. They would need to be mounted and balanced. Whatever you get I recommend ST - Special Trailer tires: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/inf...ionAnxiety.dos

If you do get them, don't go over 75mph with them....you shouldn't anyway but it gets ugly fairly often if you do!

stoddardk - did you check Peerless Tyres? I'm pretty sure they stock them. Also, Bill over at WWS probably knows the places that have them as well.

Thanks for the replies. I have the extreme trailer with ST215/75R14 tires. There is one discount tire that has one tire, they want $105 mounted. Does this sound decent?
I will check everyones other ideas too.
What is bad with Carlisle tires? Are they just junk? That is what discount has.
                    Thanks.

Any tire in your size will fit as long as it's ST or C rated, brand doesn't matter.

I had all 4 Carlisles radials blow out in spectacular fashion within 1 month of each other. Tires need to be replaced every 5 years or you are in for a rude surprise.

In a pinch, Walmart carries Carlisle bias-ply (non-radial) tires. I'd also get a spare if you don't have one already.

You can also order trailer tires from West Marine or Boaters World online.

That link should be a sticky in the Maintenance section. Tire failure is very dangerous and can leave you stranded under less than ideal conditions. Preventative maintenance can go a long ways.
