    Another stupid question....

What's the red light in the middle of my dash for? It has never been on before. This weekend it was on for a minute or 2 when we first started the motor. It did that a couple of times. I watched the temp gauge- normal. Engine sound-normal. Performance-normal.

The only difference was the tremendous amount of weeds in the lake.

Should I worry or ignore it??????
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

transmission low pressure? idle speed doesn't give enough pressure yet? does it go out when you start moving?

[QUOTE=Jason B;93799]What's the red light in the middle of my dash for? QUOTE]

The following came out of another boats' Owner's Manual.
This "oil pressure" is not the engine oil pressure, it's the oil pressure for the circulation pump in a Walter Gear V-drive.

      LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT
If the engine is equipped with the Walter V-Drive, there will be a Low Oil Pressure light on the dash. If low oil pressure is sensed in the V-Drive (< 2 psi), the light will go on. Under normal operation, the light will stay lit at idle and slow speed operation until enough pressure is produced (1200 RPM ± 400 RPM). Extended cruising or trolling at low RPM is not harmful, even if the light is lit, provided that the V-Drive oil level is sufficient. If the oil level is normal and the light stays lit above 2000 RPM, service may be required.

Our boat has a Walter V-drive model RV-26D. It has a 2 psi switch on the right side that monitors the pump pressure to the gear spray nozzle. The dash light should be on when at idle. Our boat sat 2 years before we got it and the switch was stuck open so the light never came on. When the pressure gets above 2 psi the switch opens turning off the dash light. If the light stays on at speed check the oil level. Walter Gear says to use SAE 30 motor oil. Walter Gear (and Velvet Drive) recommend changing the fluid each year.

red light in the middle of my dash that never comes on in my tranny temp light. I have a direct drive though. If you have a v drive it should be on at low speeds then turn off. I mean that's how Anhaney's is. (Isn't it anhaney?)

As R&TBabich said, it's the V-Drive low pressure light. Anything below 1000 RPMs and it comes on...totally normal. If it's on above 100 RPMs, then you need to check fluid levels and start isolating the problem.

ok so I was correct. I thought that was the case dog, but I don't drive a v-drive enough to remember.

Yeah, it turned off everytime when we got cruising. I check the oil almost every single trip and it's full.

Thanks guys! I won't worry about it then, I'll just keep an eye out to ensure it turns off. This was the first time it has ever came on so I got a little spooked.
