They probably told her that lakewater is worse than a cesspool. To some extent, they are right. The big issue is bacterial infection. We've had 2 deaths recently from folks swimming in a nearby lake and getting some rare from of meningitis. If he does have a cut, find some superglue or krazy glue and cover it up. Might be hard to get the stitches out.

If it is deep enough, he needs to stay out of the water or he will end up with a nasty infection. Might be time to sit this one out. Sorry dude, I know where you're at right now and it's frustrating. But, it happens.

Unless you can find someone with a xerosox (perhaps a local pharmacy or medical supply shop), I think you may be SOL.

for the comp, I am thinking we will superglue it, and then he just rides his run and gets out. Its like 2 minutes. I will decide when I get there. Man this sucks.

You might even consider some prophylactic antibiotics. Normally if the cut is clean, that is not warranted.

If the doc knew that someone was going to disobey orders and go to the lake anyway, he might help you to minimize the risk of infection, even though everyone knows that wakeboarding is going to carry some risk.

Unfortunately, in today's litigious environment, he might be reluctant to help with prophylactic antibiotics because if the boy gets a severe infection, some lawyer would try to manipulate the story to prove the doctor said going to the lake was OK. Rant over.

Good luck with everything! I hope he has a speedy recovery!

IMO, do 2-4 applications with that stuff.. Get a very nice coat of the superglue on.... If he cries (which I am sure he will since it will sting like a mother f'er) , tell him that he did it to himself... Next time wear shoes.

Good luck. Just make sure everthing is "safe" and "acceptable". As a father, I am sure you will.

Might want to tell him it's gonna hurt and ask him if he really wants to do this.

yeah the super glue sucks, I cut my pinky finger open on a busted pint glass, cut it to the bone. I taped it, and super glued it at home. had a 20 hour shift to do the next day, it did fine. have one heck of a scar now, but it healed just fine.

Well, heading out, with a stop to the drug store.

I read a bunch from google. Apparently, super glue can be bad,

                            http://www.nodium.com/articles/218_dermabond/

And dermabond is the way to go.

Here is the instructions I found:

                            http://healthlibrary.epnet.com/GetCo...hunkiid=101013

May be useful for someone else.

                              Dermabond is definitely waterproof.

                              http://www.3dchem.com/moremolecules....name=Dermabond

I think Liquid Skin is just a over the counter version of dermabond.

I think so to. But the superglue idea would be more permanent. IMO....
