So When is everyone wrapping up this Boating Season?
Yes, I just hired one guy. I need another excellent PHP/MySQL programmer with heavy experience in OOP methodology. I don't hire straight out, I contract to someone for several months first.
I'm a .Net guy who is being forced into fixing PHP/MySQL stuff while I am also migrating the 11 apps from it to .Net C# and SQL 2005....
I do .NET also, but my major projects are using PHP/MySQL. We use the Zend Platform which is what bridges the gap from PHP to Enterprise level functionality. That with the Zend Studio, is an incredible team environment, and much less cost.
Same here. I live about 20 minutes from a power plant (coal) I think not nuclear. We have been out on New Years Day for several years now. We have skiing as late as Dec. but usually put the boat up just before Thanksgiving.
You know, thats why I moved up here. I lived in SoCal all my life, and when I started my business in 1999, I found that I either had no time, or no money to get out and have fun with my family. We used to go to Mead a lot, because all SoCal lakes are a joke (no offense). But to get to mead, I had to take off 3 days at a time, could maybe do once a month, and it costs a lot of dough. Not to mention, you drive the traffic back, and don't feel rested. So if I had the time, it was because work was slow, and if I had the money, no time. It sucked. I loved visiting Northern California and dreamed of Someday moving up. In 2003, I found out our house was worth like $500k and we only paid $250k for it. That was IT. Within 2 months we were up here in the mountains. We are just 9 miles from the Lake Oroville lime saddle marina. Just 2 miles from several entrances to the BLM land and logging roads, and tons of other lakes and rivers to fish on. I moved up the mountain as far as I could and still get high speed access. My clients are all over the world, and don't care where I live, its the best. I highly recommend it if you can. Do it while your kids are still young and you have the time with them.
It is SO much cheaper to recreate when you only have to do it in afternoon chunks. I haven't taken a vacation in 4 years, and I don't need one. I just take off an afternoon or a day, here or there.
I was just messin' with ya. I'm like you, except I don't own my own business. I have gotten better about rearranging my schedule so I can do the same thing. We're 15 minutes from Lake Austin (rider's capitol of Texas) and 50 minutes from my lakehouse on Lake Buchanan. I'm only 2 miles from Lake Travis, but conditions are rarely good for riding there, so we avoid it.
This year I'm stoked because there's no more select soccer. This means our weekends are free! No end to the riding season in my foreseeable future.
As a fellow boat driver, I also know that your drive:ride ratio is something like 500:1. Good thing that captains chair on your Tige is so comfortable!
Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."
Y, I would love to try one of those new chairs on the RZ4 with the gas shock.
INT was the greatest thing for me this year. My kids have have given up all other organized sports to put all into wakeboarding and wakesurfing. Just thinking about that brings a tear to my eye. I hope it lasts for good, I love being on the boat and towing them. Plus I got a couple of waverunners this year, so no reason to do anything but be on the water.

Are you sure you don't want one more in the family???
Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity. Albert Einstein
