Why should I buy a Tige

Ok - so I'm in the market for my first inboard. Why should I buy a Tige vs Moomba? Mastercraft and Correct Craft are a little out of my price range. We love to ski and are tired of the wake on my I/O.

Tige looks sweat and the boat I'm leaning towards (20i). Help convince me I'm making the right choice.

    Thanks for any input.

My family and I shopped for almost 2 years and looked at many of the manufacturers at dealers as well as a couple of boat shows. We finally decided on a Tige 22i and never regretted making this decision. I have toured the Tige plant and saw first hand how our boat was built. One of the main reasons we choose the Tige was the dealer. I feel the boat is about 1/3 of the total experience and fun, but when it gets down to needing help or advice the dealer totally rounds out the making of a great relationship between a boat owner and his pride and joy. Tige boats are built well and handle rough water fantastically. I live in the Colorado area and if you are anywhere close I invite you to spend some time with my family and see first hand what a Tige is all about.

Tige is a much more solid boat. My dealer has had to put the windshield back in a moomba several times because they flex a lot after not much time. The Tige is also a more versatile boat. Moomba and Tige are both very good looking boats, but the resale of the tiges seems to be a bit better. My biggest problem with moomba is that just about everyone views them as the cheap version of a supra and therefore people think they are not worth nearly as much. Really the difference between moomba and supra is the interior, hull and power plant are identical. The hull design of the tige will handle much rougher water a lot better so depending on where you plan to do most of your boating that might really make a difference. We regularly go out in the Gulf of Mexico and Tampa Bay and I would not take any other inboard wakeboat other than a tige in that water. Whichever way you go, enjoy, but I will be blunt and just say get the Tige!!!

You really need to sea trial both thoroughly and make a decision on that.

First off would be the quality difference between a Moomba and a Tige - there is no comparison. Moomba's are nice entry level boats. You'll notice right off the bat the way Moomba puts their drivers seat on top of a bench, the hinges and hardware aren't as nice, the tower has 0 engineering, a flimsy spring on the glovebox door, cheap plastic cupholders, lighter weight carpeting. That's just the cosmetic parts.

On to the ride and handling. Go drive a Moomba through some moderate chop and listen to the hollow sounding hull crash against the waves as you are jolted back and forth while trying to hold the steering wheel and throttle. Drive a Tige through the same chop and it just drives right through it as you rest comfortably atop the captains chair.

If you are looking for a comfortable and quality ride for your family, the Tige is the way to go without spending the big $$$. If you are looking for entry level performance, the Moomba is a nice boat for the $. After 3 years of ownership, you will lose a lot more money on the Moomba in the resale market compared to the Tige, they hold their value quite a bit better.

Make sure you drive all of the boats you are interested in and drive each the same way to make a fair comparison. Good luck in your search and welcome to the site!

you have to drive them both....and make sure you have your family w/you on both. It is important to go as if you were going any other weekend on your test drive.

btw which moomba are you comparing the 20i to the outback?
I think you will find the fit/finish on the tige nicer.
Are you looking to by new? What is standard as opposed to option on each?
Make sure compare apples to apples in regard to size, power and options.

Because if you do buy a Moomba, all of us will laugh at you when we see you on the water!

              Juuuuust kidding....

Seriously....drive them both, and go with your gut. I did, and I was more impressed with the fit, finish and overall performance of Tigé versus the other brands I drove.

                Why I bought my Tige:
                1. The way that they join the top of the hull to the bottom of the hull. Good workmanship, craftsmanship.
                2. The lifetime warranty on the hull.
                3. The TAPS2 system.
                4. The dealer who I was dealing with. He answered all of my questions, was patient, went out of his way to make me feel good about the decision.

Where are you located, who is the dealer who you are working with?

If you happen to be buying from Boats of Nevada, he's a good dealer.

Like many others have said, the Tige is the most solid boat out there. There's a reason they are heavier than all other boats: their hull/stringer system is rock solid. Just about everything on my boat is over-engineered. Water can get pretty rough on my lake and I have yet to see any wear and tear.

LovinPowell makes a good point about the dealer. Regardless what boat you buy, the dealer makes the difference.

1.Taps, is you ever get into wakeboarding or surfing, You will be able do do all of it behind your tige becuase of it versitility.

2.It will handle through water better than and inboard on the market which a plus for anywhere unless you own a private ski lake with wind blocks.

                    3. The dealer, most tige dealers bend over backword for you before you buy while you own and even if you sell.

                    4. Lifetime hull warranty, What other boat company dose that??? none
tige dose becuase they make such a nice boat, There willing to stand behing it.

                    5. Your tigé will hold its resale value, not that you'd ever want to sell. haha.

The tige will not only out perform the moomba but go compare the tige to a MC, BU , CC, even if there not in your price range , take anyone of the boats I just mentioned and go 10 mph in a small circle then throtlle up and cut through the stearn rollers you just created at about 35mph, you wont get slamed in the tige ,next take the boat at any speed 20, 30, let go of the steering wheel while in a straight line and the other boats will turn the direction of there prop rotation the tige wont, get on www. boat test .com and compare several of the brands, you will see tige has the best fuel economy and performance , of note you wont find CC on the test ? and as already stated tige resale is the same percentages as CC, MC, and better then BU. YOU WONT BE MAKING A BAD DECISION WITH A TIGE.

No one will comment on, or ask you about your Moomba.

Everyone will comment on & ask you about your Tige'.

I believe Moomba shares their dated design hull with a big name builder.
                        Tige newer design bottom.

Resale value difference is an eye opener.
You'll get near what you paid for your Tige'.
Moomba will take a big "discount".

Test drive them both, and I'm sure you will make the best decision

We spent 3 yrs looking at new boats. We knew what we were looking for in a boat but also needed keep price in mind.

First off we did NOT "settle" on a Tige, nor was it a compromise. We chose Tige because it had what we were looking for, and I felt the fit/finish was as good as the "big 3" but far less $$$.

After we put this boat in the water, it was a no brainer The wife sat up front (typically the roughest place to ride) As I took off across the lake, kinda windy and choppy, she turned around and gave me "that look", she made her mind up, we were getting the Tige.

                            Why?

                            1. Convex V Hull
                            2. Taps
                            3. Cockpit Depth both in the bow and rear cockpit.
                            4. Marine Power
                            5. Structure. All structural components are fiberglassed together. Not screwed, riveted, or glued.
                            6. Fit and Finish
                            7. Reputation in the industry ( Resale )

Just a couple of things. I hope they help you make the right decision.
Indecision may or may not be my problem

Everyone has hit your question on the mark. I would add

                              1. that the gas mileage is better in a Tige than anything else.
                              2. The customer support can be good to great at times.
                              3. when the water condition force other boats into the docks, you can stay out on the lake at rough it out if that is your choice.
                              4. lifetime hull warranty.
