    Guaranteed ACME prop repairs

Guys, I found a place that does Guaranteed prop repairs starting at $170.00 and goes to $220.00. He guarantees the repair of the prop to be as good as brand new returning the prop to an S class or better darning the repair. If anyone has props that need repaired let me know. I had one done where the blade was folded in half and he repaired it. Did an amazing job.

Also I have found someone who can straighten the prop shafts to be with in .005 run out. That is better than brand new which hold tolerances of up to .03

That is a very good deal. The shop that I deal with here starts at $200 and goes up depending upon how much work they have to do. I still have my original prop that has all 4 blades that are damaged and need to get if repaired. Does this person live in Bakersfield?

No, he is in Ventura, If we can get five or more props of any brand we can get the price down to $150 per prop if it is minor repairs and 200 max. I collect them and if the owner of the prop is not in a hurry I try to hold out for some more if I don't get any with in a two week period I take what I have.

If this guy can not fix your prop he won't even work on it. He will call and tell me what is wrong and that it is unrepairable. It is very rare when that happens. Of course my personal prop had to be one of those. It was a prop that I picked up from a local repair shop here in town and they fixed it from another persons boat. They said it was perfect. Yea right as I found out after the fact. I took it to this guy to try and fix it. He told me who ever worked on trying to fix it before him destroyed the prop. So at least there was not charge.

you can send them into acme and get them repaired for less than that. They basically are new again.

That seems steep to me on the price.

The guarantee is a good thing. I had one fixed by two separate people. My local guy just eyeballed it and called it good .
The guy in Vegas is supposed to have an acme pitch block, but it still had a tiny vibration in it at some speeds. I sold it to Pablo on this board for his spare and got me a new one. The vibration was subtle, no one who rode in my boat noticed it until I pointed it out, and being basically anal retentive, I got the new one. That left me with 3 props. No one would buy my old OJ spare prop, so I sold the repaired acme.
            Be excellent to one another.

Yea that is what Gaily's told me and he ruined my prop. Any one that charges that price has not made the investment into the equipment to reshape the prop correctly. I have learned my lesson.

This guy has the pitch blocks but they are in the back 40 of his shop now, that is old technology. He uses a computer that has the CNC schematics on it and the computer measures every fragment of the blade to ensure it is back into the correct specs. The guy that had his prop done did not even know it was a damaged prop at one time. Runs just like a new prop is what he tells me.

my guy has the blocks too. and I had a part of my prop bent back in. Guess it's just who you talk to and take it too, you have never said anything good about Gailys, why do you still go there?

blocks maybe old technology, but if used correctly they work just fine. Just depends on who is doing it. There is an art to it. Just like copper bending, the hand stuff is so much better then the computer jobs.

                      Technology can't take over everything.

The shop up here has a computer controlled balancing specifically approved to repair Acme props. My last prop is awesome and no vibrations at all from the repair.... Just not the cheapest person from what I can see. But again, I would have to mail the prop to anhaney's guy and then get it mailed back.. That postage would be expensive....

I took this to them over a year ago. This is one of those things that helped to drive the nail in the coffin.

No you just give it to DOMSZ or I when we are there for work. He is there more than I am. But from what I just found out that may change.
