    Factory 900 LB Ballast?

    Who has it?

    how do you like it?

    Any issues with it?

What is your set up? ( factory plus additional sacs?)

Has anyone tried to tie additional fat sac's to it?

Gonna pull the trigger on a 2008 RZ2 that my dealer has coming in, it has the ballast and I want to know all about it.

    Thanks in advance.

I love it! It's awesome for wakeboarding and for surfing!

Have had a few vapor lock issues occasionally but idling around in forward/reverse and flipping the switches seems to always get the pumps pumping.

Currently for boarding/surfing on the starboard side we fill both rear and the front integrated bow sac and then use people weight to get the boat to list. We have an AMAZING starboard side surf wake and a good port side surf wake (I think b/c of the prop rotation the port side needs a lil more weight to clean it up as much as the stbd. side)

Has anyone tried to tie additional fat sac's to it?

Funny you should ask, my buddy gave me 3 fat sacs a few days ago and I'm gonna toss them in this evening after work and see how the surf wake looks. If I love the new wake then I'm gonna try and figure out how to plum in the new sacs to the factory system.

Gonna pull the trigger on a 2008 RZ2 that my dealer has coming in, it has the ballast and I want to know all about it.

That's exciting on the new RZ2!! Can't wait to see some pics and here stories about how awesome it is!
If you ain't falling.. you ain't trying hard enough..

What I thought the wife did not like the RZ2 ?

Anyway I have the factory ballast and overall like it but I wish it had more weight. For wakeboarding I run the factory ballast with a 350 on each side along with another 300ish up front. I consider myself an intermediate rider so I like the additional weight.

There is definitely a certain way the system likes to be filled. I learned that by filling the front bag first then the rear. The rear pumps seem to prime a lot easier if I have someone sitting in the bow or just any additional weight up there. If I try to fill all of the bags at once there is a chance that one of the pumps will get “vapor locked”. This can easily be fixed by driving the boat in reverse or if that doesn’t work then by lifting the pump top open and then closing it. I don’t mind filling the front bag independently since I have to spend the extra time to fill up my additional sacs. Overall the fill pumps work fine but there is definelty a certain way to make it work seamlessly. I haven’t had any problems draining them. However Tige may have already addressed the vapor lock issue in there 08 boats, I think my RZ2 was one of the very first that had a ballast system.

For surfing I fill one rear take (depending on the rider’s stance), a 600 in the rear, another 350 (or 2 depending on people weight) on the cabin seat and the front sac full.

By the way, I need to send you my Reg#s, whenever I have time to finish the design.

We both love the 22VE, it's been a great boat and when I got it, I had a hard time justifying the extra coin for the RZ2 over the VE for my 1st tournament boat. That combined with my wife thinking the the RZ2 that we drove that day looked like a catamaran with the split hull colors ( navy sides and and a white hull) not to mention the 22VE that we got handled so sweet

Fast forward to now and we have found our needs have changed a bit ( most are for convenience and fine tuning of little pet peeves)

-More bow room is super nice to have
-easier front compartment access. ( with the VE I have to remove all the cushions to fill/drain my front sac.
        - factory ballast ( for the lazy days, but the fact that I can plum the sac's in hopefully without messing around to much to make even more weight)
-new 3 inch Samson tower that looks sweet plus is easier to put on and take off the cover. ( We ride past sunset and sometimes its a headache to put the cover on in the dark with the extra support bars that follow the side of the windshield

        - I love the look of the RZ2 and really want to showcase Tige's flagship design. Plus I might wrap this on for a show boat for Dekelz and the RZ2 design turns more heads

thats it in a nut shell LOL..

        Now a question:

I have not seen the boat yet ( its shipping) but how is the ballast laid out? is it a 3 tanks or 2? where are they located? where are the pumps located and the water intake?

        Thanks

Its 2 hard tanks and one Fly High U shaped soft sack for the front.

The ballast intake is located above the taps plate, its about a 2inch hole. The pumps are located in front of the V drive unit. The ballast manifold forks off in two seperate channells, two pumps are located on each channel. Hope that makes sense.

There is a drain pump for each tank, and two drain pumps for the soft sac. The soft sac has a drain pump on the end of the U shaped sac.

Scoop is in the transom just above the stbd exhaust. 3 tanks I think; 1 bow sac w/2 fill and 2 drain pumps, 2 hard tanks across the transom under the "activity center"

thats cool, I did not realize there was a front bag

How is the weight broken up 300/300/300?

is the front sac under the bow seats?

Ballast fill on an early RZ2:
Note the extra hole near the starboard exhaust port.

                    Yes on both questions.

I think the front sac is more like 350-375. Thats just speculation though.

I ordered the factory balast with my 2007 22ve, but Tige and my dealer missed it on the order. Wish I could tell you if I liked it or not.

                        Wilson,

I think you got more then the factory 900#'s, I'm thinking more like 1100 to 1200. Those hard tanks will distribute the weight more toward the axis of the hull V's the hard tanks across the stern.
