Should I be looking to get a whole new rack or just the cords?

Long story, but you can not get the same racks that you have now. You can fix them, modify the 07's to work like them, or modify your uprights to use 07's with the hold down bolt. Dont let those out of your sight until you are satisfied with what you get.

YUP! If y'all like the rubber ones then by all means get those instead if ya gotta have right now. Otherwise wait for the new and improved ones at the end of August.

I dont think anyone likes the rubber over bungee, but warranty is warranty.....get the free ones as long as you can and ask Tige/Dealer if they can get the bungee one's for you, I bet that will be what is available

Yeah, if I had known that my 06 style would NOT be coming back from Tige, I may not have sent them off, I would have just had them fixed/modified.

I got mine in and the service rep was thinking I would be pissed. The service tech said that he hasn't seen anything like that rack in the shop yet and the shipping label said that they were 2007's . After a closer inspection, they were locking in two positions.... That is when I thought about the racks you have....

I am wondering if I should take a video of the racks... The problems is that I can't post the video on the site..... Wait, I can zip that puppy up into a zip file and post.... I might just do that..... What do you think???? It has to be under 100KB file and I think I can make it small... If not, I'll post the pictures anyways....

Have they been mounted yet? if not, loosen the set screw between the 2 bolt holes that mount it to the up-right and it will come apart. Look back at the pics I posted in the other thread and see how they compare

They have but I can undo them. They look exactly the same but without the modification that you did.....

Now that you mention it, I did get the rack repaired not replaced to fix the swivel issue. Now the other one has the same problem. I will make sure i get it repaired not replaced as I do like the "back" locking position and do not want to loose it by taking a 07 rack.

If you are able to wait (I wouldn't but it is an option) until Chp and I can find out the difference between our models. I know there is a difference and I know mine lock in the inside and outside uprights.... Just not sure how they do it. We should be able to do that by the end of today... I am sure or hopeful of that.

When I gave the rack to my dealer, it was the broken 2006 rack that had the issues. What I got back was two new racks. So if you are worried about having two different style of racks, I wouldn't worry about that.

OK, decided i'd give the condensed version 'cause i'm concerned someone else might get hurt. I took a shot to show what these look like and where the problem lies. I'm not being overly cautious when i say don't buy these. My nephew took a very nasty cut to the face from these requiring stitches from the second set. I took a good hit in the face from the first set. Good design, bad execution.

Wake Designs knows there's a problem and I'm not going to bad mouth them over this as they did step-up and address my issues with them and sent me out the original rubber style until the new ones are done. At least the rubber ones don't break. Hopefully the next gen straps will cure the issue. Decide for yourselves.

Thanks for sharing that Razz. Simply stating a negative encounter with a consumer product and showing a potential failure point should not be construed as "bad mouthing"

Well, the company if fixing the problem. I will give Wake Design's credit. They have come around eventually to fix their problems.
