    Bungee Cords

Well, was looking at Wake Designs web site and noticed that they have new cords for the racks. They are not the rubber one's and now they are the bungee type.

Here is the email and response that I got back.

    --------------------------------
    From: Wake Designs

    1. Replacement Bungee Straps will fit on your rack.

    2. The Replacement Bungee Straps are going to be $35 for each complete Wakeboard Rack.

    3. These are going to be Bungee compared to Rubber which will have a longer life span.

    4. The new Bungee Straps will be available the end of August.

    Subject: Rack Cords

    Wake Designs;

I currently have a 2006 Tige 24Ve with the racks that were made by Wake Designs. The current racks are not the 2006 model since they have been returned because they are in the warranty period and broke because the screws were too small (this is from my understanding) so Tige sent me the late 2007 or maybe the 2008 racks. I noticed on your website that you have the bungie cords on the racks and not the rubber cords. Questions regarding the bungie cords:

    1) Would those bungie cords fit on my rack?

    2) How much are the bungie cords if they do fit?

    3) Do these bungie cords have any sun protection to extend their life?

I do not like the rubber cords because I always seem to have one break on me from time to time. I am glad that the racks are still in the warranty period but seems to be very embarrassing when friends break the cords. They feel bad.

DO NOT BUY THESE!!! Trust me on this, just wait for the new and improved versions at the end of the month! I'm not going into detail here publicly as i don't like bad mouthing a company that is and has tried to correct the issue.

If anyone really needs to know the low-down now to correct the same issue then pm me. Otherwise wait until the new ones are out so i don't feel bad.

DA, i'm going to pm you on this.

On my 2006 20V the cords turn everything black. Basically, if you touch the cord, count on getting anything you touch covered. Then the grab handle breaks off. I won't even mention the swivel latch not staying in position and the rack swinging in so you hit your head when you get up.

The issue that you are talking about is a warranty issue. Tige is aware that the rubber that was used was low quality. I would talk to your dealer about this issue.

I did get one replaced, but it has the same issue, I will follow up again and ask about the bungee option.

                Razz,

Please PM me. I didn't know they had the bungee type before this. I have always thought that they were the rubber crap that we always got...

                Thanks

Should I be looking to get a whole new rack or just the cords?

PM Razz to see what he might say before you go the bungee route. I don't know what he doesn't like about them... But, it's better to know now than to purchase and find out a flaw later.....

                      DA, just sent a PM.

Everyone else, seriously, just wait for the new style to come out. And when they do MAKE SURE that's what your getting, not the current bungee style!

Get your dealer to get you some new rubber cords and inserts. The swivel part is a whole different story. Have not seen a set that would not lock in the outside position. May want to check the release lever to see it they are working loose. Post a pic. Da just got his back from Tige ( still waiting for pics buddy ) and I had a set of 07 modified for my self.
