I bet it had to really hurt the motor, it was way submerged and not nearly enough time to shut it off. I was surprised how well the the boat flotation worked, it did a good job and it popped back up drained pretty nicely. Made em think about that lead I put in for ballast sometimes. :-)

I dunno, when we rode in a 22Ve back in 2005, we took a ton of water over the bow...ended up with 3-4 inches of water in the cockpit area...it all drains out. As long as the air filter is above water and none of your electronics that can't get wet don't get wet, you should be good.
What saved the boat was the heads up maneuver by the driver to put it into reverse.Cursed by a fortune cookie: "Your principles mean more to you than any money or success."

At a ski show, which is where this apparently happened, the performers pretty much run around with their jackets on the whole time. They just don't have the time to take them on and off. Plus in the January, when it is 80 and the water is a bone chilling 65, we keep ours on to keep us warm. Sometimes even on top of a wetsuit.

I agreee I was watching the driver close just before they go under. I think he throws it into reverse. Causing the nose to dive. At least we know how to add Ballast to MC in about two seconds now.

he did it on purpose.
to powerturn w/an inboard you have to hit the turn hard and then back the throttle to nuetral rather fast and this sends the boat into the spin around and the put back into gear to drive out of it.
you dont back the throttle out first and then turn the wheel he definately pulled out of the throttle prior to trying to allegedly turn.
