Owned by a Penske company now. I find this to be interesting since, I could be wrong, this is the first boat company for them. I know they sponsor speed boats but taking over a major ski boat company is interesting....

I wonder why such a heavyweight in the truck and fleet rental business would want to get into making boats? Doesn't Penske have their fingers in Hertz too?

            Mastercraft NOT more like Mastercrap

Mastercraft is not a mastercraft. It is more like Mastercrap. That is why they sold they can not build a good boat anymore compared to the competitors. Maybe they think Penske will save the day.

Oh I am sorry that is they do have a good marketing plan though but there boats are still way way overpriced for what they offer.

I see one of the pro shop guys from the Ski Dock at our favorite boat ramp quite a bit and he had the Tige cover. I gotta tell ya, it is sweet! No straps, except for the back and it's towable. I don't know why you would get a custom cover.

                      thoughts????
Could be the beginnings of an industry consolidation. My guess is that we'll end up with just a handful or less boat manufacturers. I think they are all struggling a bit. For the prices that are paid for these boats, there are all sorts of basic quality issues (e.g., gas gauges that don't work, board racks that are poorly designed, engines that are not properly calibrated upon delivery, etc.). Tige isn't the only one with these issues. The real problem is that it's a niche industry. The benefit from this consolidation would be better economies of scale and possibly better quality. The real downside is lack of innovation.

Personally I think diversity helps, but it does have its costs.
