    iPod Setup

I read on another thread (questions about 22V) about how some members are connecting their iPods to their stereo. Can anyone post some pictures and explain your setup? Looking to do the same.

    Thanks in advance - Matt

Hey Matt, no pics, but with the xmd3 all you need is a rca to mini and enough of one or the other to get it to where you want it. Jst plug the rca's into the aux rca's and then plug in the mini cord and then into the ipod. if i get some time, i'll take some pics.

blr, ya that is what I have researched and read so far on WakeWorld. The only thing is that I have an XMD2, not sure if that setup is the same. The wife has an FM transmitter for the car but I have heard that they are not the best set ups. I can sometimes here static but not sure if the RCA would sound better??

rca or hardwire will sound better for sure, but the fm transmitter isn;t a horrible way to go unless your really worried about the quality of sound you give to you speakers. I am pretty positive that the xmd2 has no external inputs besides a changer. you may be looking at a new head unit to get it hard wired.

Ugghh, thats a bummer, dont really want to get a new head unit. I guess I will try out the FM transmitter and see how it does and take it from their. Thanks for the help!

We had the dealer install 2 RCA jacks just below the dash on the right. It is connected somehow to the stereo in the glovebox aux jacks which are located on the back of the stereo. Can't see any of the wires. We just plug the ipod in with a monster cable and turn it on with the remote control on the dash set to AUX. The ipod sits nicely in the mesh pocket below the throttle.

We requested this when they installed the speakers,etcc... but I don't think it is a big deal for you guy's who know how to do it. I don't...which is why we had it done.

wakewench, do you have an xmd 1,2 or 3?
I am pretty sure you can only do that on the 3.

                blr,

Not sure but it is on a 2004 21i. I'm taking it in for it's 10 hour service this a.m. and maybe I can take a picture of it next week when we get it back to the lake. (it is covered or I would do it now)

My friend has an '02 21V and it has RCA outputs. On the '01 21V it had RCA outputs also.

outputs is not the question. you need inputs....
                      from ipod into head unit
outputs are fo rmusic out of the headunit to amps or eq's etc.

My bad, I meant to say inputs not outputs, they both had the red and white wires in the back with black caps on the end of them.

wakeboarder5 - i think you were correct though at first, I beleive those are outputs. from what i have been told by my dealer and others have stated on other sites, etc. the only one with aux inputs beyond the cd changer is the xmd3 which i don;t beleive they started putting in the tige's until late '03 production. the color of the rca jack only signifies left and right.

                            Matt,

If you haven't yet figured out a setup, e-mail me when you'll be up at Lewisville and if I'm up there you can come take a look at ours.

David, I used the FM transmitter this weekend and it was just ok. We did hear some static sometimes. I did not check the back of my head unit for the available RCA jacks. I will give you a holler next time I see you out.
