    Lake Powell Trip

Well, we just got back from Lake Powell. The weather was a mixed bag, but overall I liked it. We got drenched on the drive down, but once at Powell, there were isolated thunderstorms. The good: Temperatures were only in the low to mid 90s instead of 108 - 112. The bad: There was a little breeze and the usual Lake Powell glass was tough to find. We ended up wakesurfing most of the time anyway. The very first day my water pump froze up when I tried to restart the engine after swimming. I was about 2 hours from the marina, so I fixed took it apart on the water and stuffed a towel down my intake hose to keep the boat from filling up with water -- the tines on the impeller were reversed. Of course, I took a lot of crap from my friend who owns the Malibu--but I didn't have to be towed! For either good or bad, it continued to be reversed occassionally and I could get it straightened out by starting the engine with the throttle on. I saw tons of other Tiges and two that were close to my year. Both of those had impeller problems as well. It must be a bad design or a strange coincidence. We had a lot of younger kids with us, so we proudly tubed

We spent most of the time up Navajo canyon, Warm Creek bay and antelope canyon. The narrows were very choppy due to all the traffic. The last pic is the narrows, but it is hard to see how choppy it really was.

The first pic is of antelope canyon. There was a lot of debris from all the storms. A tour boat came up the canyon with a bunch of Amish looking people on the boat. I wish I would have taken a picture of them.

    The second is Antelope Marina.

The rest are junior boating activities including small cliff jumping.

Awesome Moki. I leave on Sunday and can't wait. I also had other friends down and they loved the temps as well and found it hard to find good water. Powell is my favorite place on earth. I am sitting here trying to get some things taken care of so I'll have no worries next week and man I wish I could just leave now and never come back.

OWN - I wish I was going back. I am already in withdrawals. Yllw20 - you need to go with Matt! G-Money - You have been to boating nirvana 12 years ago and haven't been back yet! It's a long trip. I am still amazed how many california license plates are down there.

Great pics. What type of bimini do you have? I have 3 little ones and need to keep them out of the sun a little better. Powell is great. It has been 9 years for us but we are in the planning stages for 08. Already can't wait.

Did you camp, houseboat, or stay in a hotel? We returned 10 days ago, two houseboats in warm creek, close to the floating head (very convenient). We are going to be up your way this weekend, debating about whether to tow my boat up for a day on Utah Lake. What's the lake like nowadays? We need to get together for another day or two on the water. Did you go to the sandhill in Navajo. We used to houseboat there years ago, then the secret got out and too many boats ruined the all day long glass that we used to have there.

When I bought my tower from Xplosion, they worked with a local shop to make a new bimini and then I added an extension. A few others on the forum have the extensions as well. It is great, because it covers the whole cockpit to the backseat for shade.

We roughed it out at the Marriott Courtyard and launched out of Antelope. We used to camp at the sand hill all the time as well. There were only 7 house boats camping there this time . It is still a great place to go during the off season. Regarding Utah Lake, I would be happy to take you out. It's a little green right now but its not too bad. I like to think of it as an expensive organic mud treatment at a day spa! PM me and we can work out the details if you want to save the hassle of hauling your boat up here. I still owe you from Thanksgiving
