Good thing everything got stuck in my rim

I was lucky the wheel locked up and the trailer stayed straight behind the truck, things could have gotten ugly real fast.

Bummer, dude! I had 2 spectacular blow-outs where the tread separated from my radial tires. Both times it bent the fender on the trailer and took out all the lights on that side behind them. When it happened the tire literally blew up and lifted the trailer 1 foot in the air. Very scary, but no damage to the boat.

But I know how much it sucks being stuck on the side of the road and you can't really go anywhere. Glad you were able to make it home.

The only saving grace was it was on the right side of the trailer so I was able to work on it.

Did you have to leave your boat on the side of the road?

Wow! Sorry to hear/see that happened to you! Glad that noone got hurt! Did you fix it on the side of the road or ? Is the caliper something that an auto parts store carries or did you just drive without that wheel?

I was able to rip off the wheel and caliper, disconnect the brake line and change the tire... I just drove home with no brakes on the trailer. It only took about 35min to change out....15 min was spent trying to get the freaking spare tire of the trailer.

When mine blew out last weekend, it bent the crap out of the fender and paint came off. Not sure if those can be easily replaced or if I gotta fix the one thats there.

                        jgler,

those fenders are easy to replace. take it to a local weld shop.
www.championtrailers.com good place to get idea on fenders cost. and then paint it or you could always change them both to a diamond plate or somesuch.

jleger98, if your tires are over 5 years old, replace them all or you'll have the same thing happen on all of them. I know this from experience. 4 tires in one year.

Oddly enough, after my blowout, I did purchase two new tires (single axle trailer)

Didn't want to get caught with my pants around my ankles again on that trip hope

do you all replace after 5 years of use, or do u replace them before the 5th year starts? I bought mine in aug of 03, so aug of 08(next year) would be five, what do you all recomend? my tires only have about 5k of life, and still have TONS of tread left, but I don't want to have a blow out.
