I just realized that one major disadvantage of the malibu tower is that you have to put a mirror on the windshield. That means you have to worry about the mirror when you put a cover on as well. Windshield mounted mirrors simply do not provide as much visibility as well.

And you have to look around them if they are folded down, I know about that. It was kind of a pain

Lets just say the ILLUSION tower the Malibus come with as the first chioce arent made for people who are tall (ME)((my brothersmailbu).Ive hit my head in it like 10 times. Guess Im used to the mighty TIGE's tower(made for tall people).Besides its the ugliest tower Ive ever seen, I just dont like telling him that cause he'll pull that BS that he has Ballast and mine doestn,THEN ILL SAY I DONT NEED IT AND WELL END UP BACK AND FORTH AND......well Ive stated my point and you get what I mean.

Or get a mirror that mounts from the tower. That's what most Malibu owners have.

Wow! I have never seen that mirror before. Batman wouldn't have one.

I was going to refrain from getting negative, but that has to be one of the stupidest looking mirrors I have ever seen.

I know that the Illusion is pretty stout, but mounting the mirror to the highest point on the tower is going to make it shake like mad in the double ups. Then given that there is another 3 feet of support going back down to the mirror...

It just looks poised to smash the windshield in your face if it ever became loose at one of the pivot points. It's like an axe waiting to fall.

You guys are great to listen to. I admit that I still troll these boards even after my horrible RZ4 experience. I owned that thing for a total of 8 hrs, before getting back to Malibu and in a 23 LSV. So here is my unbiased 2 cents and first post in quite a while.

Illusion Tower - May be ugly, can be a headbanger for someone over 6'2". But here are the good things. There are no obstructions for the driver, as there are no down tubes going in front of the windshield. It collapses and uprights in seconds. Racks don't break and fall off. The bimini is a thing of genius. Simple, tight, low profile, doesn't rub against anything.
